The only tricky part about this card was the framed window. And it was really only a little tricky because I resized the opening. First, I temporarily attached the white layer on top of the red layer then I used the smaller of 2 Quickutz long rectangles to cut the opening thru both layers. Per the resizing tutorial (just click on the word above) I made it half again longer. Then I took the two layers apart and used the next larger rectangle to make the window larger on the white layer (again resizing it).

Since the focus is on the sentiment, I stamped the winter scene in black and left it uncolored. The greeting was stamped with red ink, except for the holly flourish on top. I wiped the red ink off and inked that part w/ black then added some color and a little stickles. I also added some stickles in areas on the scene. The bottom edges were cut with bracket border dies and the finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

  • Who Loves Ya?

    Who Loves Ya cu 02186

Welcome to the Serendipity Stamps Blog Hop!
Today we’re showing off this  wonderful new Owl die! Isn’t it fabulous? I love all the detail and it cuts like a dream.

    Who Loves Ya 02185
For my owl card, I used a dark flecked rust card stock to die cut a frame using a rectangle die. I used the center cut out to die cut the owl. I love this rust color paired w/ the soft sky color so I traced around the die and fussy cut the blue layer. A leaf die was used to cut all the rust & sky leaves in graduating sizes. I found a piece of designer paper that had the two colors in it and used it as a backdrop behind the frame. The greeting banner and backing banner were also die cut and I put a wave in the top one because it was a bit long for the layout. I added some sequins to the leaves and some bigger, bluer sequins to his eyes. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Please be sure to visit all of the Design Team blogs to see their fabulous samples with this beautiful owl die.

  • SSCB #20 Watercolor

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

Welcome to a new challenge for Serendipity Stamps! The Serendipity Challenge this week is Watercolor!

While I love to water color, I also love to make water color backgrounds…just free form swaths of color…then stamp on top of them. I love the random patterns of color I get and how they look with the images on top. A lot of times when I’m making water color backgrounds, I’ll make an extra, or two, and stash them away. This is one of those extras. I don’t even remember when I did it. It’s basically just large bands in different colors. After I decided where I wanted the image and stamped it, and added some highlights with a white gel pen.

The frame was die cut with a large oval then I used a Japanese screw punch with the smallest bit I have to punch the holes all around the edge. The greeting was stamped underneath to finish my 4.25 x 5.50 card.
