    Best of 2014!
Welcome to  the June Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is is Window Cards. The special at Serendipity Stamps this week is  the ever popular 40% off coupon.  Code “40fromhigh614”  Good through 6/24.   40% off the highest priced item in your cart. The design team has the added challenge of making an accordion card with a window. You only have to make a window card. I love window cards…accordion cards, not so much, lol.

    Geranium Accordion front 03926
I’m pretty sure I should just call this the energizer bunny card. It just kept going & going & growing! With so much real estate on this layout, I never know when to stop adding things, which is really at odds with my need for a clean layout. For the basics…I cut a letter size piece of white card stock to 5.50 x 11. From the left side, I scored at 2″, 4.5″,  and 7″….so my separate panels measure (from left) 2″, 2.5″, 2.5″, and 4″. I used these sizes because when folded, it measures 4 x 5.50 so it will fit in an A2 envelope. When closed, it looks like the picture above. When open, it looks like the picture below.

    Geranium Accordion open 03922
I stamped and colored the Lg Geranium and Sm Geranium, then fussy cut the larger version for the front, die cut the smaller for the inside window. For the inside panels, I die cut larger frames, a bunch of the corner elements and frame elements from  Floral Frame & Embellishment dies. All of the backgrounds are panels I made by “stamping” with an embossing folder. I sprayed different colors of Heidi Swapp shine spray directly onto one side of an embossing folder, placed white card stock inside and pressed. I did not emboss these panels so they are completely flat but have the image of the folder on them. In real life, the sprays are so shimmery but so hard to capture with the camera.

    Geranium Accordion partial 03915
The greeting was stamped on the largest Labels 28 on the last panel, die cut, and with the die still in place, I sponged on some Distress Ink spun sugar along the inside edges. The Serendipity die cut small butterfly and dragonfly were spritzed with the Heidi Swapp sprays and added to the two smaller inside panels.

These are the Copics I used.

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
For my cards, I chose to use the Dream and Imagine die cuts words for my cards. On this card, I used the Dream die and the first thing that came to me was a Dreamcatcher. Somewhere I saw a dreamcatcher that had an owl for the centerpiece and the owl was so similar to this one, I thought this little owl would be perfect. I die cut him out of  black and the solid owl version out of white. I also cut another detailed owl out of white paper to place on top of the solid backing so I could see where I wanted to color. After coloring the solid backing, I attached the black owl on top. I used some of the same markers to color a piece of white in bands before I die cut the Dream word. The feathers were stamped, colored and fussy cut. For the dreamcatcher, I die cut a sunflower and backed it with a circle die cut.

The finished card is 4.25 x 7 and these are the Copics I used.

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
    Supplies:

Stamps: Serendipity Stamps – Feather Background 448L
Paper: X-Press It white, black, Bazzill white textured
    Ink:  Memento tuxedo black
Accessories:  Copic markers, Serendipity Dream, Owl & Solid Owl dies, Spellbinders squares, circles dies, Perfect Paper Crafting mini rulers, Memory Box wild sunflower die

My second card features the Imagine die.

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
I stamped the Toadstools & Violets, colored them then die cut them using a little bit of my out of the box technique. I had some left over pieces of violet, lavender and rust that coordinated nicely, so I used the closest sizes of matting basic dies to give them a little polish. I die cut the Imagine, corners and top bracket  out of white and added them for contrast.

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
    Supplies:

Stamps: Serendipity Stamps – Toadstools & VioletsPaper: X-Press It white, violet, lavender, rust, grass green
    Ink:  Memento tuxedo black
Accessories:  Copic markers, Serendipity Imagine, Floral Frame & Embellishement dies, Spellbinders labels 22, Matting basics A & B dies, neon yellow gel pen (for violet centers)

My final card features the Floral Frame and Embellishments along with the larger Floral Dragonfly & Solid Dragonfly dies.
    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
I had some spritzed, water colored background left over from another project with these bright red/orange colors so I die cut the dragonflies and Dream out of it. The larger background behind the floral frame was made by sponging on a variety of pink, red, yellow and orange inks. After I die the floral frame out of white, I used a slightly smaller square die to trim down the left over square center in order to leave some of the red/orange border around it. This card measures 5″ square.

I used the beautiful Quote Collection 4 for my cards. On the first card. I made an acrylic block background by inking a large block with several colors of distress inks, spritzing with water then pressing a piece of white card stock onto the block. After it dried, I stamped the bookmark image and quote on top and trimmed. Two piece of pale lime card stock were die cut using the Beautiful Borders dies, attached to black card stock then attached under my image. The beautiful dp is from the ODBD Blooming Garden collection paper. I colored some seam ribbon to match and added some sequins (a few of those were also colored with Copics to match).

    Supplies

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs – Quote Collection 4, Bookmarks Eagle
Paper: white, ODBD Blooming Garden collection paper, pale lime green textured (DCWV), black

On my second card, I stamped the bamboo frame, colored & die cut it with a rectangle. I used a craft knife to cut out the inside before attaching it on top of my quote.  The two sizes of dragonflies were stamped on scraps of the same blue dp (ODBD Blooming Garden collection) I used for the background. After fussy cutting them, I added stickles on top. I added some straw like woven ribbon and two brads I colored with Copics to match.

    Supplies

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs – Quote Collection 4, Bamboo Frame, Dragonfly Mini, With Heartfelt Sympathy (small dragonfly)
Paper: white, ODBD Blooming Garden collection paper, tan, navy
Ink: Versafine onyx, Memento tuxedo black
Accessories: Copic markers, straw ribbon, brads, stickles, Spellbinders rectangle die
