Since the challenge for this month is “no coloring” & I really love color, I thought a good way to add color would be by using different ink colors. I started by die cutting the stitched rectangle out of one of the faint printed pieces of the designer paper then stamping the 4 different stamp images w/ four different ink colors. I did have to do a little masking. Three extra stamp images were also stamped & the red & green ones were fussy cut inside the post edge, the navy one was trimmed outside the postage edge. These were all attached to larger navy layers that I used the postage edge scissors to trim (remember all those scissors we all bought way back when?)

The greeting was stamped on a white piece the same width as the postoid panel & I used a lg. corner rounder to trim the ends. The text print paper was die cut w/ a rectangle then I used a dotted edge curved die to cut away the bottom & add the faint white dots w/ a white Prismacolor pencil.

Here’s a look at the inside.

Today’s Color Challenge (CC592) is coral, cantaloupe & saffron..these colors seemed a little retro to me so I pulled out some spiral images that also feel a little retro to me. Sparkle IMG0428
The little strip on the left was actually a brayered leftover that just happened to have the colors I needed, so I stamped the spiral border on it.

The little spiral flower was stamped & a little matching color added & fussy cut. After die cutting the white panel, I put it in my Misti and stamped the greeting. Then I colored the SPARKLE word w/ a black Wink of Stella & stamped it again. I added some clear WOS to the spiral images & stamped die cut sequins. It’s REALLY sparkly in person! I added a narrow frame behind the main panel which I also colored to match.

Poinsettia Ribbon cu IMG0398
Weekly-Favorite best-of-2016-scs-smaller
A big congrats to Rita, the newest Featured Stamper on Splitcoast! Wow, does she have a BIG gallery & so many beautiful things to see. After much browsing, I chose THIS to case (copy & share everything!). I kept the flower theme & general layout, but I moved the vertical band to the other side, used different dies, different colors & made mine a Christmas card. I also realized when I went to link to Rita’s card, that she had cased a card of Kittie’s, lol. So I guess this is a case of a case!
Poinsettia Ribbon IMG0396
For my card, I started w/ a large white die cut panel & narrower dot border die cut white linen panel. On the larger one, I sponged the red & red-orange inks from the bottom left corner up & out for a little ways, letting it kind of trail off at the ends, then I attached the dot border linen panel on top. I die cut the poinsettia ribbon & larger grosgrain ribbons along w/ the wider leaf poinsettia out of the same linen but I sponged the red inks on the big poinsettia & the wider ribbon.   Poinsettia Ribbon xcu09534
The Merry part of the greeting was also die cut & sponged. For the center of the poinsettia, I used a frosted flatback resin button..it’s very sparkly & looks like cut glass. It was clear but I dotted it all over w/ a lipstick orange Copic marker.

I’m adding this to the Simon Says Monday Challenge – Red, White &/or Blue.
