Welcome to Our Daily Bread designs September Release Blog Hop! If you arrived here from the blog of the fabulous Betty, then you are in the right place. If not, you may want to head over to the ODBD Blog and start from the beginning.

For my card, I’m using the fabulous, Keep Climbing set! I also used a portion of last month’s Bookmarks-Trees set for the front window. I just love this mountain scene and the fonts are beautiful in all of this month’s sets.

My card is variation of a trifold, with the front fold being an open window. For the main panel and die cut frame on top, I die cut the panel first using the Spellbinders Labels 8, left the dies in place, put a small circle mask for the moon and sponged on the colors with ink from 2 different Kaliedacolor pads. After removing the mask, I stamped the mountain scene then removed the dies. The largest one became my frame and the smaller one is my main panel. I used the smaller labels 8 to die cut the opening in the top section of my card (to make the window opening) and attached my frame on top.

I stamped the trees from the Bookmark-Trees set on a separate piece of card stock which was also sponged w/ the green inks, and cut around the top of the trees. I attached this mostly to the inside of my window but let the edge trees come out of the opening. So the inside would look neat, I die cut another piece of white card stock w/ the same size label 8 and attached it to the inside of the window. I also added a circle die cut sentiment on the front lower corner, matted on a larger black circle. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Hopefully, you are able to see how it works a little better from this pic, but just in case, here’s a super short (like 17 seconds) video showing how it opens and folds. Sorry about the annoying little ads, but whatcha gonna do? It’s You Tube, so just hit the little x to close them. I’m sure there’s a way to bypass them, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

    Best of 2012 –SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

A BIG CONGRATS to Mary (aka jandjccc), the Splitcoast Featured Stamper (FS290)!

And wow does Mary have a fabulous gallery and I spent quite a bit of time strolling thru the pages. I was really struck by a scenic card she had called Lonesome Bird. I love the greens (my fave!) and the bird, the moon…well I love the whole thing. So I kept those, but I used different images, made a frame around mine and added two punched birds instead of the one stamped bird.

I needed an anniversary card for my hubby, since Monday is our anniversary so I thought Mary’s card would be the perfect one to case. I pulled out a long neglected Stampscapes image for this and after placing a circle mask for the moon, I sponged on the various green inks then stamped the image on top. A few wispy clouds were sponged across the moon and some highlights added to the trees and rocks. The reflected light on the water was done by scribbling a white Distress marker and a white gel pen then going over them w/ a water brush. The white gel pen was also used to add some stronger highlights to the water. The frame was die cut as were the flourish elements, then the punched birds and sentiment were added. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your week, Mary!

Hi y’all! This is my last Dare to Get Dirty Challenge sample and this one is for the challenge I’m hosting!

Well, this is the view I wish I had! And I wouldn’t mind a pair of them highfalutin’ boots, neither! Think if I call up Nocona Boots and ask them to make a pair, they’d go for it? Anyway, the inside says “Have a Texas sized Birthday” and this one is going to my Dad. He still lives in Texas. I don’t think he’d wear the kinda girlie looking boots, but he’ll like the view, too.

For my inset window scene, I sponged on the greens at the bottom and the blue and purples at the top. Since the green and purple don’t play well together, I left just a smidge of white between the two. When I had the color intensity I wanted, I stamped the silhouette scene on top then die cut it. I cut a very narrow white layer to back it, then put it back on top of the background it was cut from. The white layer has a larger rectangle die cut window and I added some backing layers to elevate it slightly. The little bluebonnets and sentiment were stamped directly on the bottom. I had a little of the sponged background left, so I stamped the boots and hat onto this and cut them out. The finished card is 6.50 x 5.00.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a chance to play in the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges this week. Lots of fun, inspiration, chatter and PRIZES! This is the final challenge, but y’all still have until Aug 6th to upload your creations in the Dare to Get Dirty Forum on Splitcoast.
