This is a CAS (clean & simple) card for the Color Challenge (CC493) today on Splitcoast. I don’t have the exact colors, but I came pretty close using Distress inks. I masked the edges of a white panel and sponged on the inks. Then I used a stencil, sponged thru it to add a bit more interest. The image & greeting were stamped on top along with some dots across the bottom using an ink spot image.I added a few highlights on the colored part of the image w/ a white gel pen and white Prismacolor pencil. It was die cut w/ matting die and the leftover piece was sponged and added back around the main panel.

I even went for the dessert option of the challenge…recycle something 🙂 My little leaf was stamped w/ Stazon onto a piece of plastic packaging and colored on the back side w/ Copics, cut out then heated a little in order to curl it a bit.

    Sweet Watermelon Birthday 04297
A big Congrats to Katie, the newest Featured Stamper (FS392) on Splitcoast! It’s kind of funny, but a few weeks ago when I was asked to guest host the Queen For The Day challenge, the new Queen was Katie, who was also on my list for next up on the Featured Stamper challenge. So I just switched weeks and waited a little while to feature Katie. I chose THIS fun card of Katie’s to case. I kept the watermelon, colors & layout, but I used different images, left off the dry embossing and stamped my own black/white background. I’m also adding this to a couple of Dare to Get Dirty Challenges…DTGD14cathymac & DTGD14DiniA.

This is actually a 1 layer card. I die cut the main panel out of a 5.25 x 4 inch piece of white card stock & on the left over frame, I stamped the checkerboard bg. For the main panel, I masked off the area on the left and stamped the watermelon border. After masking it, I sponged  on several colors of green ink & stamped the lines bg w/ the darker greens, removed the mask & colored the watermelon. The watermelon & ant image was stamped on a scrap of white, colored & fussy cut. I trimmed the checkerboard around it a bit to fit in the space. I used a SAMJ to rearrange the greeting a bit. Added some twine & a button then attached it back into the narrow checkerboard frame. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

    Anchor 04218
For my first card, I stamped the wonderful Anchor scene, colored it with Copics then did a bit of my out of the box technique on the right side using a classic oval die. I kept the colors a little toned down to coordinate with the background paper I wanted to use. The larger black oval and wide black panel were done with the embossing folder stamping technique. I sprayed one side of an embossing folder w/ sparkly silver & gold sprays, then pressed a piece of black card stock inside. There is no texture since I didn’t emboss it…just sparkle! On the teal woodgrain patterned paper, I stamped the little anchor & compass rose with teal ink  & the fishing net background on the right side with gold ink. The two different braided ropes w/ shells were something I’ve had in stash for quite a while. The smaller one was glued around the oval and the larger one tied in a bow and added. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 & these are the Copics I used.

    Better Flip Flops 04208
On my second card, I went with a fun tropical color combo and lots of sparkle. I had some pieces of striped paper w/ lines of sparkle already in it so I used a couple of rainbow ink pads to sponge in those colors on the stamped, die cut flip flops. I also used them to stamp the big sand dollar then stamped the greeting on top. It was die cut with one of the circle ornament dies and I used a scallop circle on the teal layer. The little teal border was die cut with an edge of a scalloped long rectangle die I used on both sides. I added a few gems and stickles in tropical colors to the flip flop straps. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.
