Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread designs August Release, here is the card I created using the Strawberries, Blue Ribbon Winner, Canning Jar dies , Fancy Foliage dies & Recipe & Tag dies. For more inspiration using the Augsut Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

For my card, I stamped and die cut the lg and sm canning jars, reverse masked them and stamped the strawberries inside and colored them with Copic markers. I die cut a recipe card and then moved the bottom of the die up to shorten it a bit. With the die in place, I sponged some lt green ink inside the die edge and stamped the Strawberries on the tab. The lg strawberries and strawberry border were die cut and colored with Copics. For the large background, I use the vine from the Fancy Foliage dies and embossed it in several places rather than die cutting it. I used a green Copic to add color to the leaves and vines. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

  • Old Fashioned Hello

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
    A
big congrats to Jodi, the Featured Stamper (FS331) on Splitcoast! What a super gallery and I noticed she has a lot of vintage images and little frames w/ a postage stamp edge, so I chose her Hello, Bonnie Blue Bell to case. I kept the Hello theme, soft colors and general layout, but I used different images, made my background instead of using dp and put the sentiment on the image panel.

I stamped the greeting  next to the little telephone and colored it w/ Copics, using the colors from Tuesday’s Color Challenge (CC429), sand, pink & sky. To make the background, I placed a couple of strips of drywall mesh across white c/s and sponged the colors on. I added a few strips of painter’s tape and sponged on more color. I die cut one frame using the postage stamp squares (resized to a rectangle) and a narrow white frame around the outside. I used copics to color in the postage stamp frame. The card is 4.25 x 5.50.

For once, I actually remembered to take a pic of the Copics I used before I put them all back. So just in case you’d like to know, here they are:

  • America the Beautiful

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

For today’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT430), we are to feature music and/or instruments. I went w/ the music as these are words from “America the Beautiful”. I’m still hearing the song every time I look at my card.

The images are from Our Daily Bread designs. I love Patriotic cards and images and there’s nothing finer than the old red, white & blue. This card was fairly quick and easy. I cut a section of designer paper that included the flag and attached it on a navy blue layer. The eagle and musical sentiment were stamped w/ denim ink and colored w/ Copics. I die cut it using my Out of the Box Nestie technique using a Spellbinders deckled rectangle. With the die in place, I sponged a little antique linen ink on it. This was a left over piece of vanilla c/s and I think it must have been around a long time because when I removed the die, I noticed some fine cracking when I bent it. I kind of liked it and to me, it went w/ the distressed look so I used it. I added a few stamped & punched out stars next to it. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.
