    Best of 2012 –SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

A BIG CONGRATS to Mary (aka jandjccc), the Splitcoast Featured Stamper (FS290)!

And wow does Mary have a fabulous gallery and I spent quite a bit of time strolling thru the pages. I was really struck by a scenic card she had called Lonesome Bird. I love the greens (my fave!) and the bird, the moon…well I love the whole thing. So I kept those, but I used different images, made a frame around mine and added two punched birds instead of the one stamped bird.

I needed an anniversary card for my hubby, since Monday is our anniversary so I thought Mary’s card would be the perfect one to case. I pulled out a long neglected Stampscapes image for this and after placing a circle mask for the moon, I sponged on the various green inks then stamped the image on top. A few wispy clouds were sponged across the moon and some highlights added to the trees and rocks. The reflected light on the water was done by scribbling a white Distress marker and a white gel pen then going over them w/ a water brush. The white gel pen was also used to add some stronger highlights to the water. The frame was die cut as were the flourish elements, then the punched birds and sentiment were added. The finished card is 6.25 x 4.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Enjoy your week, Mary!

This is my birthday card & bookmarks to Randi. I hope she like them! I used several different sets and dies to create it and the double sided bookmarks. For the daisy background, I used markers to color in the background and add just a hint of color to the daisies. The sentiment was die cut, sponged and layered on top of two Memory Box die cuts. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

  • Butterfly Garden

    Best of 2012 –SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

Have you checked out the Splitcoast Featured Stamper (FS288) yet? Jean (naturecoastcrafter) has a lovely gallery and I chose her Here Comes the Sun to case. I kept the horizontal layout and flowers and butterfly, but I changed the colors, the images and added some flourishes.

The images are from Our Daily Bread designs. The small flowers on the small layer are actually from a bookmark, but with a little masking, they work here, too. For the backgrounds, I sponged on colors from a Blue Breeze Kaleidacolor ink pad. Then I did a technique called Water Stamping that my friend Bev Gerard did a tutorial on this past week on Splitcoast. I love the soft, marbled look it gives. I stamped a portion of the same Daisy Background in black across the bottom. I like the way it helps “ground” everything. Just a few hightlights were added were a white gel pen. A sweet little Cheery Lynn flourish was added in the lower left corner and I used a Marianne Designs corner die in the upper right.  The butterfly was white embossed onto vellum,  sponged w/ the same blue inks and die cut using the matching die. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Congrats again to Jean!
