On my first card, I used The Earth, Vintage Pattern Mini 1,  the Circle Ornament dies and the ODBD Christmas Paper Collection 2013.  After stamping the earth ornament and die cutting it, I added a die cut red bow, holly leaves and berries to the top. The left side of the cardinal paper was die cut and I added another die cut piece of red underneath to help define the border. The lt green/vanilla bg was stamped with Vintage Mini Pattern 1 and the green ink. The dk green is another sheet of the Christmas paper collection. I added a few die cut hanging stars to finish my 5.50 x 4.25 card.

    Supplies:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs – The Earth, Vintage Pattern Mini 1
Paper: vanilla, red linen, ODBD Christmas Paper Collection 2013
Ink:  Distress Ink in fired brick, HA Field Greens
Accessories:  ODBD Circle Ornament dies, Spellbinders bracket border, Asian accents (dk green behind the ornament) & nested pennant dies, Memory Box precious stars die

Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.comOn my second card, I used 4 inks to pounce/sponge color on white c/s then stamped the 2 large ornaments of the Vintage Pattern Ornament set w/ Versafine onyx. I wanted a much smaller ornament so I die cut a smaller circle and w/ the die still in place, I stamped the Vintage Pattern Mini 1 inside then drew the border w/ a fine black marker. I added a few dots w/ a white gel pen for some contrast. On the 2 border strips, I stamped the Vintage Pattern Mini 1 & Vintage Pattern Mini 2 and attached them to the front of my 4.25 x 5.50 card. The greeting was stamped with a combination of  red & green inks. The two smaller bows are from the stars die cut.

  • Pink & Green Pinecones

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

    Weekly-Favorite

Well, it turns out my first post today was for a CAS Challenge last week, lol. I got lost in the Challenge list and picked the wrong one. This is for the challenge that’s actually today…(CAS244) Tearing or Distressing. While it may not look totally clean & simple, it actually is CAS. For my pink/green bg, I quickly (very quickly) pounced/sponged 4 colors of ink then stamped the image w/ Versafine on top. It’s die cut w/ a long rectangle and I added a bit of a white marker and stickles to the snowy parts of the pinecones. The black grid looking bg is a long ago leftover from a TLC challenge (TLC235) painted grid. This is also for one of the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges…HYCCT1326, Mixed Media.

I tore the side of the long strip using a tearing ruler (makes it so easy). I attached it to a left over strip then attached the narrow little strip I tore off. I added the greeting on the card front and a few sequins cause you can never have too much bling! The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The only tricky part about this card was the framed window. And it was really only a little tricky because I resized the opening. First, I temporarily attached the white layer on top of the red layer then I used the smaller of 2 Quickutz long rectangles to cut the opening thru both layers. Per the resizing tutorial (just click on the word above) I made it half again longer. Then I took the two layers apart and used the next larger rectangle to make the window larger on the white layer (again resizing it).

Since the focus is on the sentiment, I stamped the winter scene in black and left it uncolored. The greeting was stamped with red ink, except for the holly flourish on top. I wiped the red ink off and inked that part w/ black then added some color and a little stickles. I also added some stickles in areas on the scene. The bottom edges were cut with bracket border dies and the finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.
