    For my card, I started by doing a brayered background on white c/s using only the yellow/orange/pink sections of a rainbow pad. All of the images were then stamped using black ink and I sponged on a little more color under the ducks. With a very small acrylic paintbrush, I applied bleach to the flowers. Since I used a non-waterproof dye ink, the color bleached out perfectly. I used a white gel pen to help accent the swirls on the ducks and then applied  glue to these areas as well as the flower centers. I sprinkled on Sparkling Snow glitter on some flowers and Sunny Daze glitter on the rest then edged it w/ a black marker.

    The only real difference in these cards is the treatment of the black layer. On the top version, I used a border punch on three sides and on the bottom version, I used a scallop edge die. On both, the sentiment was die cut w/ a small oval die and part of the crochet lace ribbon was added at the bottom of the image panel. I used a sunny yellow diamond ribbon for my bows and threaded a piece of the same crochet ribbon through the knot. Both are attached to 5.5 x 4.25 white cards.

  • ODBD Feb Release Blog Hop!

    For my card, I stamped the anchor twice on vanilla card stock and colored them with markers.  I painted on some bleach with a small acrylic paint brush on the anchor and clouds. I used a circle die to cut one out and sliced off the bottom edge. I die cut a larger circle out of a multi color paint chip and attached the image on top. After cutting out the other image, I attached it on top of the base image with a little foam tape to elevate it slightly.

    On the larger, shades of blue paint chip, I placed it back side down on the fish embossing plate and ran it through my Spellbinders Grand Calibur. With the die still in place, I used a sanding block over the raised fish on the right side.

    The sentiment panel was punched on two sides and torn down the left side. I attached two eyelets and tied some twine through them. The finished card measures 4.25 x 5.5.

  • Many Butterflies

    What an interesting color challenge (CC307) at Splitcoast! I wasn’t sure I’d like these colors, but they’re growing on me. I wanted to use a purple c/s, but I don’t have eggplant, so I used the black and layered it w/ lavender. I used the eggplant, suede, red and a little green (for some reason I had it in my head that artichoke was one of the colors) for the colors in my butterflies.

    All images are Our Daily Bread designs. For my bg, I stamped the lg butterfly bg image w/ the white chalk ink and did what I think is close to the Black Magic tech. I actually learned this tech around 1999 or 2000 in a class I took from Helene Metievier (from Magenta Rubber Stamps). I don’t think it had a name then and Helene used pigment ink, but the chalk works just fine and it dries much faster.

    After I stamped the bg, I used the Prismacolor pencils to color over the solid white images. It may look like I made a lot of layers of this bg, but it was actually only one 5.25 x 4 pc. I cut it into 2 frames w/ lavender layers in between. On both of the layers, I made a faux layer by drawing a frame w/ a white marker.

    The large butterfly was stamped on white w/ black ink, colored w/ the Prismas and die cut using the matching ODBD butterfly die. The sentiment was stamped on the lavender and die cut w/ a Spellbinders diamond shape. A few curled strips were added for the butterfly tail.
