It’s my turn to host the Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper Challenge so a big congrats to AJ Bodine (aka rutabagapie)! Her gallery is full of beautifully colored images & fun designs. After much browsing, I chose THIS to case. I liked the image running over onto the circular frame & the flower theme so I kept those, but I used different images, different colors & I used a die cut for the greeting instead of stamping it.

I’ve had this image for awhile & I’ve been wanting to get it out & use it. So today is the day! After coloring,  I smoothed out the blends a little using Prismacolor pencils then I die cut it a couple of times w/ 2 sizes of large ovals.  I didn’t have a pierced oval that large so I did it the old fashioned way…w/ the SU piercing set. The outer frame is actually popped up just a bit from the  rest of the image. Due to the size of the image, there wasn’t a lot of room left for a greeting but I had a die cut that fit in pretty well. I double stacked it, black on white to give it a little depth.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

  • Take a (Retirement) Hike!

For today’s Inspiration Challenge (IC603), I chose This scrapbook page. I don’t really do scapbooking so mine is a card  😀 but I liked the silhouette images against the sky.
For the background, I used the Wrinkle Free Distress technique by smooshing the brown Distress inks onto my craft sheet, misting pretty heavily, then pressing mostly the bottom half of my water color paper on top. (Repeat this until you get the coverage you want.) After wiping the sheet off, I repeated this for the top half of my paper using the blue inks. Since watching paper dry is not one of my strong suits, I dried it w/ my heat gun then put  into my Misti and stamped the hiker &  trees w/ the sepia Versfine. I had to stamp them each about 2 or 3 times to get a good impression on this watercolor paper. I used a white marker to edge the panel & the white Prismacolor pencil to highlights to some of the rocks. I had a large brown paint chip & I liked the names of the colors so I let them show at the bottom. The greeting was added on a circle & backed w/ a larger circle from the paint chip.

Here’s a look at the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

  • Serendipity June Blog Hop #2!

Posted on June 21, 2017 12:00 AM by Julie 15 Comments

Welcome to the June #2 Blog Hop for Serendipity Stamps!

For my floral birthday card, I first stamped two of the largest  Summer Flower Pops, colored then die cut then w/ the matching die. On one, I trimmed it closer & removed all the background petals & popped it up a bit on top of the full flower. One of the smaller flowers was used for the center & I used the yellow Copic to color the (originally clear) frosted resin stone for the very center.  The white panel was masked down the left side & the Flower Corner stamped a couple of times & colored.  After die cutting the larger gray gingham background & a ribbon out of the same paper, I attached these & stamped the greeting.

Here’s a look at the inside. I wanted to color the Flower Corner but didn’t want the color to go thru, so I die cut a piece of 22# paper, stamped it, then attached it to the inside. Below it are the Copics I used.

Next stop is Vickie‘s Blog!  Please be sure to comment on all the DT Blogs..it will be so appreciated & also increase your chances of winning!
