There’s a new challenge in town on Splitcoast..just started up this summer. It’s the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge & today the challenge (WCW015) is watercolored die cuts. I think the aim to watercolor on die cuts. I went about it in the opposite direction, but I hope that will still count.
This skyline die is brand new & is only pre-order right now, but will start shipping soon. I had it in my mind to make a city scene at Christmas so I rather randomly painted a piece of watercolor paper w/ greens & reds. I used Brushos & mixed the powders in a plastic palette before dropping them, wet into wet, onto the w/c paper. I used a heat gun to quickly dry it & this stopped the color from totally blending out & gave me some hard edges & the splotches I was looking for. After it was dry, I die cut it. I also die cut a piece of scratch paper & used the negative top part as a mask & sponged in the background buildings before popping the die cut version up w/ fun foam & attaching it. Before I put it all on the slimline card front, I splattered it w/ white acrylic paint, then stamped the greeting (new & also soon to be released!). A narrow stitched hill was attached on top to represent snow on the ground. I dotted some of the snow w/ stickles for a little sparkle.
Thank so much for stopping by!
