  • Blue & Gold Christmas

Posted on April 30, 2020 10:42 PM by Julie Comment

Welcome to May!  And it’s time for the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club May Christmas Challenge! We have a year of new Christmas Challenges!  You’ll need to be Fan Club member but that’s easy…just click the blue link to find out how. Bet you’re wondering what the challenge theme is..I’d love to tell you but you’ll have to go see for yourself.

My card started w/ the little square of blue watercolor bg. I wish I had made more of it, but this was all I had left of this particular one. So I framed w/ a mirror gold square frame & added some die cut stars & moon on it. The gold glitter trees & deer were die cut out of some gold glitter wrapping paper. For the moon, I did cut one out of the gold glitter & another out of white. Then I placed the white one back in the die, moved over a bit, to trim a little more of it so the gold glitter would show around the edges. The greeting was gold embossed & I used gold leafing pen to edge the white panel before attaching it to the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Daffy on Woodgrain

Posted on April 25, 2020 9:33 PM by Julie Comment

Congrats to Gloria, the newest Featured Stamper (FS690) on Splitcoast! She has a lovely gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the layout & flower theme, but I used different images, dies & swapped out the stripe paper for a stamped woodgrain.

After coloring the daffodils, I die cut it first w/ a rectangle stitch die then used the bottom half of a marquee die to cut the lower section. I took a few picture to show how I did this.

This is the die I used for the lower half. I used the largest die because I saw that it was large enough to go all the way across to sides so I placed it where I wanted the bottom cut to be.

After placing the image panel & die on top, I put the top plate on top, but only to the point where I want it to stop cutting (which is halfway up the die). By having the top plate stop here, it will only cut to that point.

Here it is after die cutting! I do this technique quite a lot, so it doesn’t matter to me if I’ve colored it yet or not. If you’re trying it for the first time, you may want to wait to color until after you’ve cut it, in case you need to start over because it didn’t work the way you wanted. For the lower part of the card, I stamped the woodgrain bg w/ the dark green ink.

Here are the Copics I used:

  • Moon Fairy

Posted on April 25, 2020 1:43 PM by Julie Comment

Such a wonderful photo site for the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC751)! I was inspired by THIS picture.

I started by stamping the fairy & masking her. A reverse circle mask was placed around her & I sponged in the colors for the blue planet. Then I placed the circle mask on top of it & used black acrylic paint over the entire area.

After it dried, I added some different blues above a circular line I drew to represent the planet she’s sitting on. White acrylic paint splatters were added for the starry sky. I stamped another fairy, colored & fussy cut her to add on top of the stamped one & I white embossed the greeting on the dark planet.

Here are the Copics I used:
