    Christmas Wheel 07631
One of my somethings new is the image that happens to be 50% off this month! This is such a wonderful little winter/Christmas image…you don’t really even need to color it. Since I stamped it on textured paper, I used my Misti & Versafine & I stamped it twice to make sure it got into the crevices of the paper. With Versafine, I couldn’t use my Copics, so I used a couple of very pale blue/green Tombow (water based) markers. The greeting was stamped w/ barn door Distress ink before I added some dp layers & snowflake border die cut. I added stickles here & there on the snow & I used a red marker & red stickles to add some berries to the twigs.

Here’s a look at the inside.
    Christmas Wheel inside 07635
    Supplies:

Stamps: Serendipity Stamps – Wheel in Snow, Season’s Greetings
Paper: white textured, dp (red & aqua -Pebbles- Home for Christmas) dp (white wood -Glitz)
Ink:  Versafine onyx, Distress ink barn door
Accessories:  Spellbinders A2 matting basics A & B dies, Misti, Tombow markers to shade snow, snowflake border die (Darice). stickles, crystals

    White Autumn Leaves cu 07640
This lovely Maple Leaf  is also new to me. I tried stamping it in a number of inks & colors, but still didn’t get the look I wanted until I white embossed it and sponged the colors onto the background. I die cut a white frame out of textured white, elevated it a bit & attached it to a layer of dp. A second maple leaf was fussy cut and added along w/ the greeting stamped underneath.

Cornucopia 04982For my Thanksgiving card, I stamped the beautiful Horn of Plenty, colored it with Copics, then die cut it. A gold, leaf border die cut square was added underneath before attaching to a large chocolate colored layer.

Cornucopia xcu 04991I used a Cheery Lynn Chrysanthemum die to make the white flower and a CL sunflower die on the yellow flower. I also used a CL fanciful flourish die. Embedded in my corner fall corsage arrangement, I have my non-craft item…the netting. It’s actually from a bag of lemons and I used an orange Copic to make the yellow a bit deeper. A little raffia tied in a loose bow adds the finishing touch. The tag was die cut and stamped with the Small Happy Thanksgiving and I used a Copic to color the border of it.
Cornucopia inside 04989On the inside, I used a leftover narrow frame that I also colored w/ Copics, some leftover chrysanthemum petals and a band of the chocolate on which I stamped the small Maple Leaf.
Cornucopia env 04997As an extra non-craft item, I used my envelope punch board to make a sturdy envelope out of an old calendar page. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

Welcome to the November Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is appropriately…Things you are Thankful or Grateful! You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog.  The DT has the added challenge telling a story about why we chose the images/dies we used.. And as always, we have a  have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player. Autumn Birdhouse 04972

The story behind my card is bittersweet and hard to tell without tearing up. This wasn’t the original card I set out to make, but this image was really calling my name. And though the little bird on the birdhouse looks suspiciously like a chickadee, I colored him to look like an American goldfinch because…well let me back up. Two years ago this Friday, we lost our long time companion…a red mask conure (parrot) named Odie who had been part of our family for almost 27 years. He loved to watch the birds at the feeder and the goldfinch (birds see in color, unlike dogs or cats who see only black & white) was his favorite. We’ve had dogs and were always sad when they passed but this little bird was something special. He was an import from South America (back when they could still do that) and we rescued him when he was about a year old. He had been dumped on a friend on mine who didn’t know what do with him. My husband and I had been reading about parrots and really wanted to adopt one, so we took him. The reason we named him Odie was because we also had a cocker spaniel at the time and Odie could see him  through his window and the first thing he did was imitate the dog barking. He later had a pretty good vocabulary and contrary to public opinion, birds are super intelligent (even more than dogs or cats). They have reasoning ability and other than man, they are one of the only species able to construct and use tools to help themselves.  It’s really something to have a “pet” who can not only talk to you, but also lives with you longer than most children! So that’s my reason for using these images as I’m ever so thankful for the almost 27 years we had with such a special little bird!

    Autumn Birdhous xcu 04980
After stamping the birdhouse and coloring it with Copics, I die cut using a little bit of my out of the box technique on the left side. I left the die in place and sponged on a little antique linen ink. I added a few more die cut layers using paper from one of my fave paper collections. I also added some stamped, colored & fussy cut maple leaves and two die cut acorns on top along with the greeting. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

Here’s a little look at the inside  & if you’d like to see a picture of Odie, look down toward the bottom of my sidebar. That’s Odie on his favorite coffee cup. 🙂
