Believe it or not, but this IS the sketch from today’s challenge on Splitcoast (SC375)! It just got a little covered up. My circle had to be bigger and then I added the fussy cut dogwoods and poof! The horizontal and vertical bands mostly disappeared.

The images are all from DRS Designs and the Hope quote and dogwoods are a sneak peek of new images to be released on Sat. 3/10/12. I’m really loving these dogwoods! Here I stamped them in lightning black and very quickly added just a hint of shading w/ two markers then cut them out. I know, I know…most people don’t care for the fussy cutting, but I like it, lol. And I’ve gotten really quick with it. It took me about 7 or 8 min. to cut out the 3 bunches of dogwoods.

For the quote circle, I stamped the stained glass image w/ the lightning black then stamped the quote over it w/ black before die cutting it. The little left over crescent moon shape is what was left and I kinda liked it so I added some sponged on gold leafing and put it back.

The strips were stamped w/ the stained glass image and the gold ink and a solid strip added on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Don’t you love a Free for All, anything goes? That’s exactly what today’s Free For All (F4A66) challenge is about today at Splitcoast. I’m guessing there will be a LOT of entries in this gallery! I know I’ll probably have a few.

For my get well card, I’m using some dp that was given to me probably a year ago. I love these colors. All images are Our Daily Bread designs. This came together pretty quickly, I had the white w/ the circle cut out of it just sitting on my table and for fun, I put it on top of the dp. I’m kinda liking this, lol. I stamped the top part of the image w/ the blue, turned it around to create a fancy bottom w/ the green ink. (The image is normally a straight line across the bottom; just like the coordinating Spellbinders die.) I did a version of the resizing technique w/ the die by cutting only the top section, turning the die around and cutting it again so that the curved section is on top and bottom.

I added a die cut vintage border behind it and also all around the edge of the dp. The finished card measures 5.5 x 4.25. The die cut button was added on the upper right. I was going to put it on the left, but I had to cover an inky accident, lol. Oh well.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

And this is my version. I really picked up on the orange colors, the flower and butterflies. Although it may look like there are layers or cut outs, there’s really only one layer attached to the card, three punched butterflies and one die cut sentiment. I started with a piece of white c/s slightly smaller than my 4.25 x 5.5 (A2) white card. I stamped the medium and small Bush Flowers with black ink, masking when needed. I added just a touch of color by lightly swiping sponges w/ yellow, orange and pink inks haphazardly across the flowers. I colored over all of the petals w/ a VersaMark pen and clear embossed them. A few specks of embossing powder were spread out around the flowers, but I like the splatter look so I left them and even added a few more.

Yellow, orange, pink, ginger and cranberry inks were then sponged over the entire piece and I used more of the darker colors around the flowers to add more contrast. The excess ink was wiped off of the clear embossed flowers. The script from Odd Findings was stamped over the top with ginger ink.  I stamped a butterfly from  Friends are Special using the yellow, orange and cranberry inks on a scrap of white then I used a butterfly punch. The punch didn’t exactly line up w/ the image, but I like it anyway.  I traced around it on a piece of white and cut the inside out, leaving just a white frame of the butterfly. I used this as my base to attach to the card and popped the butterfly up on top. I added two more small punched white butterflies and the sentiment (also from Bush Flowers). I edged the entire piece w/ a black marker and added a piece of cardboard underneath for a little dimension before attaching it to my card.
