Congrats to Kathy! Today’s Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS262)! I picked This to case. I kept the layout but I made mine a bday instead of Christmas, used different images and moved the ribbon.

The images are all from DRS Designs. I also used a technique from the Technique Junkies Dec 2011 newsletter   (you’ll have to be a TJ member to see it) called Curvy Borders for the black layer around the flowers. The flowers were stamped on w/c paper, colored w/ markers and cut out. I attached them to a white Spellbinders Mega Oval die cut and used the Curvy Borders technique w/ the Banner Basics 2 die cuts to frame it.

The black polka dots were black embossed down the side of the next panel and I added a red polka dot ribbon across the middle before attaching another of the Banner die cuts behind the right side. The sentiment is a partial of a much longer image and I used a SAMJ to position the words before black embossing and die cutting w/ a Spellbinders circle. The red button was dotted using a black Permapaque marker and the finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • My Cup of Tea

Today’s sketch challenge (SC369), was for me,  a real challenge! It looks great on Taylor’s Abracadabra card, but it gave me fits. It just felt awkward to me to add that strip across the bottom so in the end I just tacked on some little butterflies. Oh well.

I used a couple of new sets from Our Daily Bread designs. I stamped the teacup full of flowers then stamped the greeting on vellum and placed it on top. IRL, the teacup is a little more obvious. The frame was stamped and the inside cut out and placed on top of the vellum. I stamped another frame in yellow and a third was white embossed on cobalt. I had to cut these two apart to fit them around the original frame.

For my diagonal strip, I punched two strips of the cobalt and put a piece of ribbon down the middle. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

For my winter card, I used this wonderful Tree Branch and stamped it with indigo ink on the slate blue c/s. I shaded it just a bit using Tombow markers and added snow with a white gel pen. The two sizes of Flurry snowflakes were stamped in indigo and also denim inks. I added a few of the smaller flakes stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. More highlights were added with the white gel pen and the centers dotted with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

The greeting was also white embossed on a gold flecked navy piece of c/s. I attached it on top of a sentiment frame and colored in the dots. The finished card is 6.50 x 5.00.

Just for fun, I thought I’d show you my color inspiration for this challenge. I had this snowflake dp and while I was hunting for c/s to go with it, I found this Martha Stewart paint chip in my stash and those are the colors I used. This is a page in my little 9.5 x 7 notebook.  I keep little leftover paper and ribbon swatches and bare bones notes on the card. It helps me remember what I did and what I used. I don’t know how many of these I’ve gone through, but they’ve really come in handy plenty of times and I don’t have to guess what I used.
