I’m so excited to have been asked to be a Guest Designer for the Splitcoast Color Challenge this month! And for the first challenge (CC773) of 2020, we have a blue, yellow & brown color combo, w/ trees as the dessert option. I don’t tend to use a lot of brown so it was a good challenge for me.Â
It’s kind of funny, but after I was told the colors, I went to bed that night & kept thinking “what am I going to make?”. When I woke up, I actually had a picture of this card in my head. All I had to do was to try create it. And a tree w/ a deer is actually an excellent way to work that brown in to the mix. For the bg panels, Â I used some blue Brushos on watercolor paper & just let the watery mixed blues run & spread down the paper. After it dried, I cut it into 3 panels & attached a little cardboard to the backs then onto a deckle edge espresso brown panel. I added a larger lt blue panel behind it then the die cut espresso tree on the left & a saffron yellow sun behind it. The deer was also attached to a matching cardboard die cut & I used Prismacolor Pencils to add the color.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Congratulations. A very exciting month for you!
You did an awesome job with this colour combo. I find myself using a lot of brown. It always seems like I’m buying more SU brown cardstock.
Your panels are very intriguing.
