Welcome to the December Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is Sparkle & Shine! You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog. The DT has the added challenge of adding gold or silver … and as always, we have a have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.
My card today features this beautiful holly wreath! I love gold embossing on Christmas cards but I also know that embossing powder and Copic markers can be a little tricky. If you’re careful, you can add a little color, but blending and using a blender pen are not recommended. They usually tend to “melt” the embossed powder. So in order to have the best of both worlds, I stamped the wreath w/ black, colored it with Copics then fussy cut it. I didn’t even try to cut out the tiniest little sprigs because I wanted the embossed gold version of these to show. Using gold ink & gold powder, I embossed it on another piece of white, added just a hint of color then did an out of the box treatment on it using a hexagon die. Then I attached the fussy cut version on top, a little to the side so the gold embossing would show more. The edges of the hexagon were also gold embossed. The greeting was gold embossed underneath the wreath and the other die cut layers were added before I attached it to the card.
Gold stickles were added to the poinsettia centers and stardust stickles to the red bow. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.
