Welcome to the North Coast Creations July release!

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
On this card, I stamped the old barn w/ black ink and colored it with Copics. The red card stock I had wasn’t as dark a red as I wanted, so I rubbed red ink all over it before stamping it with ODBD’s Wood Background with cocoa ink. I die cut a frame with this using the Spellbinder’s Labels 21 then added some piercing and faux stitching w/ a white gel pen. The greeting was die cut using a Lacey Pennants die. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

These are the Copics I used:

On my second card, I again stamped and colored the image using Copics. The gazebo as well as the heather layer were die cut w/ square dies. The lower panel of heather was embossed and added below w/ a gradient ribbon between the two. The greeting, again from Find Beauty, was die cut w/ an oval. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50. (Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the Copics.)

  • Poppies on White

    Weekly-Favorite
A big congrats to Vicki, the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS329)!  What a wonderful gallery she has! I chose her Thanks card to case. I kept the layout and flower theme, but I used different images, different colors and a different embossing folder.

I had a background I had water colored using reinkers, and I liked the colors, so I stamped the poppy image on top. I really wanted a white bg like Vicki’s so I fussy cut the poppies and placed them on a very lightly sponged die cut oval. A bow and die cut tag w/ the sentiment were added. I used a strip of dp and for the very narrow orangey strip, I just ran an apricot Copic marker down a piece of white c/s to get the color. The white bg was embossed and then everything was attached to my 4.25 x 5.50 white card. I added a bow (it was white and I colored it w/ Copics) and a few black pearls to finish it.

Congrats again and enjoy your week, Vicki! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great Memorial Day!

  • A Man Thing

    Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

For the Ways to Use It Challenge on Splitcoast (WT426), the topic is Discover! Use or try something new. For me, it was both…I used 2 new embossing folders AND I tried something new to me…embossing on duct tape.

I’ll bet most of you know or are related to someone described by this card. For me, it’s my brother in law. The guy lives for duct tape and bungee cords as a fix all for everything. He also has a lot of old cars. Not antiques…just old, and at least one should have been put out of its misery a long time ago. One year for Christmas, I gave him a new set of bungee cords. This was after my sis opened the hood of the old clunker (car, not brother in law, lol) and showed me how he had a bungee cord holding the accelerator cable. With raised eyebrows I just said “Really?” Then made sure sis was not the one driving the bungee mobile. When I found out he planed on doing some rewiring, I sent my hubby over (he actually KNOWS about wiring). I told him she is my only sis and I would not be happy if brother in law burned down their house.

The images are all from DRS Designs. So for my Man Thing card, I wanted to use duct tape, but could only find some dark almost black duct tape around here, so I used some foil tape (don’t know what it’s used for but it’s in the home improvement section) and stuck it to a piece of card stock and embossed it. I used some lg deckle scissors on the ends of the Man Thing part to look more like torn duct tape. The tool border was colored w/ Copics and I just happened to have a tool bg embossing folder to finish it off. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.
