Serendipity SSCB #34 Miss You

Welcome to the August Challenge for Serendipity Stamps ! This month the challenge is is Miss You/Thinking of You. The design team has the added challenge of CAS (Clean & Simple). You only have to make a Miss You/Thinking of You card. The sale at Serendipity Stamps this week is Free Shipping on any US order of $10 or more. Good through August 13th. For my CAS card, I stamped the mustang with Versafine because I knew I wanted to use a water soluble graphite & water color paper and Memento doesn’t really stand up to water nor work really well on textured paper like water color paper. I added shading w/ the graphite and a water brush then die cut with an oval die & matted it on a black oval. As I was looking at the w/c paper I cut the oval from, I thought..I wonder how it would look if I put the oval on the inside, viewable through the cut out? A window or outside in type card. So I cut the strip to A2 size, scored it to put the oval on the inside. I added a black die cut oval ring around the outside oval and the the greeting near the edge. On the inside, I stamped the rope corner and added more of the graphite. It looks a little warpy at the top because this water color paper is much heavier than card stock and it does not like to be turned inside out! Thanks so much for stopping by! Beautiful Geraniums 04234
For my abundant geraniums, I used dye reinkers to water color two backgrounds..one coral, one green then punched out the flowers (using several sizes of hydrangea petals) and the leaves then shaped them w/ a stylus. I can’t even tell you how long that took for all these little flowers & leaves. I used a white gel pen to add the lines & centers and a marker to add that distinctive “geranium” leaf line to the leaves.

The greeting was stamped on a die cut piece of textured white then added to a fancy die cut piece of leftover water colored bg and attached on a piece of green dp. The red frame between the white top and green dp layer, is out of the same water colored paper I used for the flowers. It was a little plain, so I stamped the geranium image w/ black ink to add a little something extra.

For my “into the window” card, I stamped the beautiful Hat w/ Flowers close to the corner of 4 x 5.25 piece of white card stock, colored it with Copics then lightly penciled in my frame using the die as the template. I cut into & around the parts of the hat & flowers that would stick into the opening, placed the die under the hat & die cut the opening. I used a slightly larger stitched die to emboss the stitching around the window. The greeting & ferns were stamped on a slightly larger piece of white, colored & I used the BG10 Copic to add the aqua around its edge before attaching it under my slightly elevated window. Another fern was fussy cut & added on top of the window along w/ a valance die cut. I threaded a blue button with Peapod Stripe & Denim Stripe twine & tied them in a bow.

The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.
