Welcome to a new challenge for Serendipity Stamps! The Serendipity Challenge this week is Watercolor!

While I love to water color, I also love to make water color backgrounds…just free form swaths of color…then stamp on top of them. I love the random patterns of color I get and how they look with the images on top. A lot of times when I’m making water color backgrounds, I’ll make an extra, or two, and stash them away. This is one of those extras. I don’t even remember when I did it. It’s basically just large bands in different colors. After I decided where I wanted the image and stamped it, and added some highlights with a white gel pen.

The frame was die cut with a large oval then I used a Japanese screw punch with the smallest bit I have to punch the holes all around the edge. The greeting was stamped underneath to finish my 4.25 x 5.50 card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to check out all of the Watercolored Wonders from the Serendipity Design Team!

A big congrats to Vicki, the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS329)!  What a wonderful gallery she has! I chose her Thanks card to case. I kept the layout and flower theme, but I used different images, different colors and a different embossing folder.

I had a background I had water colored using reinkers, and I liked the colors, so I stamped the poppy image on top. I really wanted a white bg like Vicki’s so I fussy cut the poppies and placed them on a very lightly sponged die cut oval. A bow and die cut tag w/ the sentiment were added. I used a strip of dp and for the very narrow orangey strip, I just ran an apricot Copic marker down a piece of white c/s to get the color. The white bg was embossed and then everything was attached to my 4.25 x 5.50 white card. I added a bow (it was white and I colored it w/ Copics) and a few black pearls to finish it.

Congrats again and enjoy your week, Vicki! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great Memorial Day!

This is for several challenges on Splitcoast. First the Inspiration Challenge (IC377), and I was inspired by this Fish Pin. For the Mixability Challenge (MIX4), we are to use water based mediums and I used water based reinkers and shaving cream on top of water to create my background. And last but not least, the LOVEFEST2013H challenge by Unity, colors and a picture. I used the colors as my starting point.

For my card, I used a shaving cream background, stamped the image on top. This technique has been around a while and here’s a link if you’d like the directions: Shaving Cream Technique. To make sure the image was dark enough, I also used black embossing powder and heat embossed it.

I left a narrow border around the image when I trimmed it and then attached it to  dk green layer w/ a punched side and then a gold textured layer. A little sponging was added to the gold layer, the large lt green textured layer and also the 5.5 x 4.25 ivory card. The sentiment was stamped in two directions on the lt green layer and I sponged over the top of some added embossing on the left side.
