  • Gnomes at the Beach

Ready for Summer? School’s out and it’s time to pack the swimsuits and head for a beachy vacation. Beat the heat sitting by the water, breeze in your hair, toes in the sand. And don’t forget to grab a cool drink. Unwind, take a swim or just relax to the sound of the waves.

It’s my turn to host the Inspiration Challenge (IC965) this first day of June, and we are visiting Patti J. Good Designs & her Pinterest Board. I came across THIS cute little gnome & used him for my inspiration.

After coloring my cute little gnomes & die cutting them, I made a background for them using a couple of stencils. I die cut the white panel then taped the sun burst stencil across the top & placed the rectangle stencil to mask off the lower section. After sponging the yellows & a bit of pink, I removed the sun stencil & used a reverse mask I made by die cutting a similar sized circle in the middle of a piece of copy paper, to cover the rays, then sponged in the sun itself. I removed this, placed the wavy stencil across the bottom section & the rectangle stencil over the top part. The blues were sponged in for the waves.

The gnomes & palm tree were popped up a bit & the smallish mini slimline die cut was popped up a bit more before the gnomes were added. The greeting was stamped directly over the sun burst rays before the gnome panel was added. I used some stickles glitter glue to paint in the sparkle on the waves.
These are the Copics I used. I will mention, in real life, these gnomes’ outfits are soooo bright w/ the fluorescent Copics. They literally glow!

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!

Are you ready for summer? It’s almost here! Swimsuits, beaches, pools, vacations..This is such a fun, summery set & the coordinating dies and beautiful paper make it a snap to put together. A card for a summer birthday or bon voyage or meet you at the beach and don’t forget your swimsuit!

For the Inspiration Challenge, we are visiting Made in B & their Pinterest site where I found THIS wrapping paper that inspired the colors for my card. I had so much fun picking out the paper to go w/ this summer set. Once I had a paper w/ colors similar to my inspiration, I colored the images I wanted to use. Since I also wanted to gold emboss them for that shimmer, I put them in my Misti, stamped them w/ the toffee Memento, colored them, then stamped over them w/ gold ink & embossed w/ gold powder. Copics & embossing powder don’t play well together, so this allows me to work around that problem. I also wanted a little something something on the swimsuit, so I used part of a stencil, the gold ink, & a fine brush then heat embossed that, as well.

For the greeting, I stamped it w/ teal Memento, colored in the SUNSHINE w/ pink, then stamped over it w/ the Versaclair ink. Again, Copics & Versaclair will ruin your markers, so it pays to go thru the extra step. All of the images & the petal background cover die were popped up for dimension. I also used the largest rectangle die to trim down the size of the Petal Cover in order to let the paper show around the border.

These are the Copics I used:

An adorably happy little bee buzzing by to say hi card. The chubby bee was black embossed & lightly colored w/ pencils & is backed up by a couple of stenciled backgrounds. Easy to make and easy to customize the colors.

For the Inspiration Challenge we are visiting Liz Marie Blog & her Pinterest Board. I came across THIS picture of a bee on a gray background & used it for my inspiration.

It may not look exactly like the shirt, but that’s where i started. As we all know, things sometimes do not go as planned. After I black embossed the bee onto dk gray & used pencils to lightly color him, I just didn’t like it that much. So time to rethink. I tried it again on a lighter, heathered gray w/ violet undertones & I liked it much better. The smaller white & larger weathered backgrounds were lightly stenciled using  pale blue & pale lavender inks. The lower section of the white was cut w/ a tattered edge circles die, the bee & flowers were die cut & added on top along w/ the black embossed greeting.

I realized the colors of the Prismacolor pencils aren’t readable in the top pic so the numbers/colors are from the bottom up:
    PC949 Metallic Silver
    PC938 White
    PC934 Lavender
    PC1026 Greyed Lavender
    PC956 Lilac
