Today’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT478), is all about birthdays. We are to make a card representing our birth month, the flower, the gem…well, hmmmm. The flower for June is a rose. I’m not really a rose person so I don’t have many rose images. I know I have 3 (4 if you count the one I couldn’t find), but the prettiest one is so small I nearly went blind trying to color it. On to plan B. I remembered I had a set of the month names so I dug it out, stamped it & colored it. I thought it needed something, so I masked it & added the umbrella with a top one cut out & elevated.
I had to die cut it using my out of the box technique so I wouldn’t cut off the base umbrella. I added a few more die cut layers & also cut the card using the largest labels 28 die (I had to place the folded card w/ the fold just below the top cutting edge of the die). Since the other birthstone for June (besides the pearl) is the Alexandrite, I added some AB crystals which are pretty close, since they also change colors from pink to purple to green.Â
The finished card is just under 5.50 x 4.25 so it fits in an A2 envelope. These are the Copics I used.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
