Today’s Technique Challenge (TLC678) & Clean & Simple (CAS469) are both about backgrounds. The TLC wanted us to make a stained glass bg & I totally cheated on this one. I promise, if I have time, I’ll come back & do it right. 😉
I put the Stained Glass Oval image into my Misti then stamped the image w/ Memento desert sand. I knew I wanted to gold emboss it but since I also wanted to color it w/ Copics & the two don’t play well together, so it was stamped first w/ an ink color that would allow me to see the lines but also disappear when embossed.
After coloring it, I over stamped it w/ gold pigment ink then heat embossed it w/ gold powder. I die cut a piece of lilac card stock & a larger piece of sage green then cut the ovals out of the centers. The Happy Easter Cross was stamped, colored & I cut around the top to let more of the stained glass show through then attached it behind the oval frames & then on top of the stained glass background.
Here are the Copics I used.

Today’s Clean & Simple Challenge (CAS425) is He is Risen…celebrate the Resurrection or raise something up, like using embossing. I did both on my cards.
For this Easter card, I paired this beautiful new Celebrate Easter greeting w/ the Lily Cross & the Stained Glass Oval. I know the rectangle version would have worked better, but the oval is the one I have. I kept the colors neutral & the layout clean & simple to let the images shine. First I put the cross into my Misti & stamped it w/ desert sand. After lightly coloring it w/ Copics, I overstamped it w/ metallic gold ink then heat embossed it w/ gold powder. I did the same to the frame, coloring in just a few areas.
In real life, the gold embossing is really pretty. You can see it a bit in the pic below.
Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.
My second Easter card was really quick..the triple crosses were stamped on a die cut circle w/ the lilac ink, then the scripture quote was stamped on top w/ the grape ink. It was added to purple die cut & the white bg was embossed w/ a sun ray folder.

The Color Challenge on Splitcoast (CC426) had some pretty colors I thought would look nice in my stained glass window. I needed a wedding card and I thought this fabulous image would be perfect.
Images are from Our Daily Bread designs. The window was black embossed, colored w/ Copics and die cut using the matching ODBD/Spellbinders die. After I die cut it, I realized it would have been much easier to emboss it twice and color only the one I wasn’t going to die cut. I would have saved me from having to put all those window pieces back in place. Oh well. I did die cut another marbled frame and attach it under the embossed one to raise it up a bit from the stained glass pieces. The white die cut window frame was attached around the window and I embossed the background w/ a Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment was also die cut and attached on top of my 4.25 x 5.50 card.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week!
