Welcome to August! And it’s time for the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club August Christmas Challenge! We have a year of new Christmas Challenges! You’ll need to be Fan Club member but that’s easy…just click the blue link to find out how. Bet you’re wondering what the challenge theme is..I’d love to tell you but you’ll have to go see for yourself. Hint..I’m really loving the new theme for this year.
I’m also combing this w/ the Featured Stamper Challenge since they fall on the same day. So a big congrats to Jan! She has a lovely gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the red & white Christmas theme, but used different images & dies, turned mine vertical & made it a slimline.
For my card, I die cut the slimline Geometric X in white..it’s normally a 3 panel design, but I cut off & used just the one. The pinecones & holly were colored & die cut & the pine boughs were fussy cut & attached to a piece of white glitter card. The greeting was stamped & I put all the red & white layers together.
Here are the Copics I used:

We have a fun Ornament Pinterest Board for the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC730) this week. I was inspired by THIS cute snowman ornament.
After coloring my snowman, I used my out of the box technique & a stitched square die to cut him out. After I added a piece of green dp, I attached the double stacked die cut J, Y & snowflake down the side. A white scallop frame & a pair of die cut cardinals were added along w/ a red crystal in the center of the snowflake.

It’s my pleasure to host the 700th Inspiration Challenge (IC700)! Wow! That’s a lot of inspiration. And I chose a place that was a discussion of colors. For my first card, I was inspired by THIS. I love all the blue butterflies.
After coloring & die cutting the butterflies, I sponged the Distress inks onto my white panel, then sprayed it w/ thinned out white acrylic paint. I thought it still needed more, so stamped over the sponged areas w/ the same Distress inks using a splatter bg image.
Here’s the inside & the Copics I used for the butterflies.
Stamps: Rubbernecker Stamps: Brush Butterflies , Splatter Bg |
Paper: Staples 110# white, X-Press It, gray |
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versaclair nocturne, Distress inks tumbled glass, evergreen bough, weathered wood, black soot |
Accessories: Rubbernecker stitched rectangles, Fluttering Butterflies , Nested Banner Stitch, Rectangle Stitch Frame , Floral Frame dies, Copic markers, white Posca paint pen |
My second card is all about shades of gray & black. My moonlit scene was inspired by THIS picture.
After die cutting the birches & grasses out of black, a circle of white & a bg out of gray, I sponged on a little black & gray onto the gray bg.
I used white & lt. gray Prismacolor pencils to add some depth & shading to the moon, birches & grasses.
