This is my second week as a Guest Designer for the Splitcoast Color Challenge & for this challenge (CC578), the colors are olive, eggplant & Bermuda Bay (a blue/green). I admit, I was a little leery of using the eggplant w/ the other two, but I think it worked out ok in the end.
To make my rainy card, I first made 2 water color backgrounds..the narrow blue/green one and a larger one w/ all 3 of the colors to use for the umbrellas. After brushing water over the narrow panel, I mixed blue & green Brusho powders on an old CD with a wet paintbrush then drug the paintbrush across the top edge of the panel & held it upright to let the color run down. I let it dry a bit, then added a few darker drips & some splatters. For the other panel, I mixed the colors of Brushos on the CD & painted them in separate areas on the panel. When both panels were dry, I splattered then w/ water then quickly dipped them in UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) & heat embossed. I had do this in small areas at a time in order for the UTEE to stick & the water puddles not to soak in.
After die cutting the umbrellas & narrow panel (I used a rectangular piercing die & did one side at a time), I stamped the half sun where I knew the panel would end then realized that the yellow I was going to color it wasn’t in the challenge so I stamped it again on a leftover piece of the w/c bg & paper pieced it. I attached the narrow panel, put it in my Misti & stamped the greeting on both & added the umbrellas. The 3rd umbrella I trimmed off the handle & just let the Y be its handle.
Here’s a look at the inside.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
