  • Serendipity May Blog Hop #2!

Posted on May 16, 2018 1:00 AM by Julie 12 Comments

Welcome to the May #2 Blog Hop for Serendipity Stamps!

The Prize – One $20 gift code will go to one random commenter from the blogs. So be sure  to visit all the blogs because you don’t know which one the winner will be drawn from. You have through Sunday May 20 to leave comments on the blogs for a chance to win. Mary will announce a winner on May 21 on her Blog. On the first & third Wednesdays of every month, we’ll be celebrating with a Blog Hop! The Special this month is the Petunias stamp – 50% off!

My card was pretty quick. I have a substantial stack of backgrounds made over the last few years & sometimes I go thru them when I’m making a card. The times when I would get stuck for an idea, I would just make backgrounds & file them away. Or when I’m trying out a technique, especially if it’s messy, I’ll make a bunch in different colors or designs. So this is one of those bgs. It’s on glossy paper & it uses alcohol inks. I like the flowing colors & thought it looked good behind this wonderful barn scene.
After I positioned the image in my Misti, I stamped it (minus the windmill) onto the bg. First time, it didn’t work because I used Memento ink. That ink wiped right off of the glossy bg. So I did it again using Ancient Page. That’s my go to ink for glossy surfaces when I don’t really want to use Stazon. I stamped just the windmill on the right of the white frame & did a little into the window on the left of the windmill & die cut the oval center. Added the greeting & a black layer & done!

Here’s the inside. I left it blank except for the barn image which is light enough to stamp or write over. I’ll probably send this to my hubby’s brother who is in the middle of building a barn.

Please be sure to comment on all the blogs..it is much appreciated & also increases your chances of winning!

  • Roller Coaster Ride

Posted on March 25, 2017 8:47 PM by Julie 1 Comment

It’s my turn to host the Featured Stamper Challenge (FS529) on Splitcoast so a big congrats to Hideko Lagan, aka PapercraftBoutique! She has a really sweet gallery & I chose THIS to case. I liked the colors & the pieced strip bg so I kept that but I used different images, different dies & turned my horizontal. Hideko was brought to my attention by the very sweet Kia…thanks, Kia!

To make my roller coaster card, after stamping & coloring the image, I used a double stitched die and my into the window technique. All of the strips in the background were die cut w/ one of the smaller sizes of the stitched long & skinny mats, then I arranged them & used scotch tape on the back to hold them together. I used a curved stitched die that closely followed the greeting curve, to cut the bottom of the strips then I attached them to the card front.  I attached a bunch of leftover pieces & strips to the back side of the framed image to give it a little lift. Some sequins were added for a little sparkle.

Here’s a look at the inside, using more strips & below it are the Copics I used to color the image.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Serendipity March Blog Hop #1!

Posted on March 1, 2017 12:00 AM by Julie 16 Comments

Welcome to the March#1 Blog Hop for Serendipity Stamps!

If you arrived here from Miriam’s blog, you’re in the right place..if not, you may want to head over there first.

The Prize – One $20 gift code will go to one random commenter from the blogs. So be sure  to visit all the blogs because you don’t know which one the winner will be drawn from. You have through Sunday March 5 to leave comments on the blogs for a chance to win. Mary will announce a winner on March 6 on her Blog.  Each month a different image is 50% off. This month- it’s the Marble Feathers Bg! On the first & third Wednesdays of every month., we’ll be celebrating with a Blog Hop!

To make my Easter card, I started by white embossing the Marble Feathers Bg onto white card stock, then I used the Distress inks to sponge the color over it for a pretty pastel bg. The Three Ducks were stamped onto the X-Press it c/s and colored w/ Copics. I used my into the window die cutting technique to cut the frame, leaving the ducks attached to it at the bottom.

I wanted the frame w/ the ducks to be elevated from the bg, so I used those leftover pieces & strips of c/s we all have & usually throw away, and glued them to the back side to add stability & depth. The Spring die was cut 3 times & stacked to match the depth of the frame.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Please be sure to comment on all the DT Blogs..it will be so appreciated & also increase your chances of winning!
