    X 2
A flowery card for Mother’s Day, birthday, or a thank you to someone special. The top layer w/ the diagonal cut is not as hard as it looks, so I took extra pics to show the steps.

It’s my turn to host the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC957) & I chose On Sutton Place & their Pinterest Board where I found THIS lovely picture.

The top white panel was cut before I stamped the flowers. Since I was trying something new w/ the dies, I didn’t want to have to start over w/ coloring the flowers if it didn’t work out. Here are the instructions for how I did the diagonal half cut background.

After I used the largest rectangle to cut the entire front, I placed the smaller rectangle evenly on top. Then I used a smaller top cutting plate, placed it diagonally from corner to corner, and ran it thru the machine. Since only half of die was covered by the top plate, it only cut that half. Above pic is how it looked after cutting only half.

I took a ruler w/ a metal edge, placed it diagonally from corner to corner of the cut, and used a craft knife to cut the diagonal.

Yay! It worked perfectly. Then the flowers & greeting were stamped on the uncut diagonal half. I masked the short jar of flowers then stamped the tall one behind it. All except the edge of the tall one on the right. Since they’re both glass, you’d still be able to see that edge thru the top jar.  I placed the plaid cut background behind the opening, then the scraped acrylic paint background under all of it. This is a background I made a long while back. Basically, you put drops of acrylic paint on card stock, then scrape across the paint w/ a tool. I used a credit card & metallic shimmer acrylic paint.

  • Easter Ducks

A sweet little Easter card with adorable little spring ducks. Mama duck in her Easter bonnet is pulling her duckling in a cart of Easter eggs.It would be easy to swap out this greeting for Mother’s Day.

It’s my turn to host the Featured Stamper Challenge (FS895), so a big congrats to Sioban! She has a fabulous gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the ducks, cart & circle element, but I used different dies, turned it vertical & added a designer paper background.

The ducks & flowers were cut out of white & colored w/ Copics. The parts of the cart were cut using a few shades of brown & I did cut the length of the cart & moved the wheel in toward cart for a better fit. The big cracked egg that the duckling is sitting in is actually the artist palette. The shape was perfect for a large egg & I cut the tops in a zigzag w/ a pair scissors. The inset piece of the palette was also a perfect egg shape, so I colored 3 of them & stuck then in the cart w/ some sprigs of grass. The circle background behind the ducks was stamped w/ the faux watercolor images & ink that I spritzed w/ water before stamping, for a softer look.

I always look through my dies & images to see what I can use when I don’t have exact thing I want, so don’t be afraid to rearrange or alter your stamped images or dies to get the look you want.

  • Honey Bees

A sweet as honey card with 2 cute little bumblebees, some flowers and backed up with some new paper. Perfect for  a birthday, Mother’s Day or just because.

We are visiting Mackenzie Myrick & their Pinterest Board for the Inspiration Challenge (IC956) this week. I was inspired by THIS picture. I liked the bee & flower but I colored mine in instead of just black & white. I just love these cute, plump little bees! Their expressions are so fun.

After coloring & die cutting the bees & flowers, I stamped the greeting in the upper right corner & used an inset die of honeycombs to cut the lower left corner. The flowers were stuck inside the cut outs before being attached to a piece of bee themed designer paper. The bees were attached as shown,
