Christmas Banner 04111A big congrats to Heather, the newest Featured Stamper (FS388) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery and uses a lot of really cute images. Since I don’t have any of the sweet children or mousie stamps, I went with a Christmas theme card and chose THIS card to case. I kept the Christmas theme and framed image, but I used different images, different colors and used an oval frame instead of a circle.

Christmas Banner cu 04109After stamping, I colored the image & background with Copics, then added some snow with Copic opaque white paint & stamped the Christmas part of the greeting beneath the bells. The turquoise and white frames were die cut & added on top. The Merry banner was die cut & stamped in red w/ the backing layer die cut out of gold card stock. I also die cut some foliage out of the same gold c/s. A gold ribbon & bow were added in the lower left corner. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

  • ODBD March Release!

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
Welcome to the Our Daily Bread designs March release!  And what a bee-u-tiful release it is! Flowers, bees, honeycombs, dies to match…you’re going to love these!

First, the prize details…Three winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left on the designers blogs to receive a $25 Gift Certificate to the ODBD Store, to be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps.  You have until March 2, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. EST to make your comments!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on March 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

My first card features the fun Bee Happy set and Honeycomb Background. After stamping the beehive with deep lagoon chalk ink, I added a little yellow ochre with a Tombow marker. Normally I use a Copic marker, but they don’t play well with chalk inks. I did use the yellowish Copics to add color around the beehive, but I did so very carefully.I really wanted a hexagon die to mimic the shape of the honeycomb, but I don’t have one. So I die cut it with a square die then turned it 45 degrees and cut the corners to mimic a hexagon shape. The honeycomb embossed layer behind it was done by inking the embossing folder, embossing the vanilla card stock then die cutting with the square the same way. For the turquoise background, I stamped portions of  the Honeycomb Background with teal, butterscotch and white pigment inks. The seam binding was colored with Copics to match.

    Supplies:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread designs Honeycomb Background, Bee Happy
Paper: vanila, turquoise dp (Authentique – Summer)
Ink:   Colorbox deep lagoon chalk ink & frost white pigment inks,  Adirondack butterscotch,
Accessories:  ODBD Ornate Borders & Flowers dies,  ODBD Zinnia dies,  Copic markers, Spellbinders squares dies, seam binding, Quickutz/Lifestyle Honeycomb embossing folder set, yellow ochre Tombow marker, mini bowdabra

For my second card I’m using the beautiful Zinnia set and matching dies along with the gorgeous Blooming Garden paper collection. After stamping the large zinnia once and small zinnia twice, I colored them Copics then die cut. One of the small zinnias, I fussy cut smaller than normal then layered them together and added a little stickles in the center. The greeting was die cut with a circle die and attached to a floral die cut along with some little leaves from the Fancy Foliage set. The vertical white panel was die cut with  the  Daisy Chain die and a  scalloped long rectangle die was added around it. A few colored gems were added for extra interest. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

  • NCC February Release!

    Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
    Weekly-Favorite
Welcome to the North Coast Creations February release! And like last month, we have some beautiful florals for you! And they have the loveliest greetings to with them. First, the details on the prizes:

Two winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left on the Designers Blogs to receive a $10 gift certificate good towards the purchase of NCC stamps. You have until February 24, 2014 at 10:00PM EST to leave a comment on each of our designers blog posts.  The two random winners will be announced on the NCC Blog on February 25, 2014, be sure to check back there to see if you have won!

For my first card, I used the beautiful Floral Sentiments 4. I paired it with some of the gorgeous Heart & Soul paper from ODBD and I used an ODBD die for the greeting tab and side tab next to the lilacs. After coloring the lilacs, I traced a frame around them and did what I call a “cutaway” technique by cutting out the background inside the frame. I placed a plum heather piece of card stock behind the image before attaching it to the dp. A pale pink heather card stock I had just happened to match the dp, so I stamped the flower from the ODBD Ornate Borders & Flowers set using the Distress ink. After die cutting partial shapes, I attached it all to the dp along with some layered ODBD Beautiful Borders across the bottom.

    Supplies:

Stamps: North Coast Creations – Floral Sentiments 4, ODBD Ornate Borders & Flowers
Paper: X-Press It, ODBD Heart & Soul paper, pink heather, plum heather
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versfine onyx (greeting), Distress Ink Victorian velvet
Accessories:  Copic markers, ODBD Beautiful Borders dies, Spellbinders rectangle dies, Candi dots

On my second card, I used the gorgeous Floral Sentiments 6. I stamped the hydrangea 3 times, colored it with Copics and fussy cut them. I made the hydrangeas the color of the ones in my front yard. I had a frame that was a die cut leftover so I used it on top of a white die cut ODBD Quatrefoil Pattern. For the background  I used a bleeding tissue technique piece I made a long time ago.  It’s simple to do, but not all tissue paper will bleed when wet. I believe the brand I used was Spectra. All you do is tear some tissue, place it on gloss or semi gloss (poster board) card stock, and spritz with water. You can leave it until it almost dries (for more dramatic color) or pull it off sooner for a more pastel look. This was on the pastel end of the scale. I thought the colors would be perfect for the hydrangeas. Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
The bow was also colored with Copics to match and the greeting was stamped on die cut tag from the ODBD Recipe & Tag die set. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used. Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
