    Weekly-Favorite
Welcome to the North Coast Creations February release! And like last month, we have some beautiful florals for you! And they have the loveliest greetings to with them. First, the details on the prizes:

Two winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left on the Designers Blogs to receive a $10 gift certificate good towards the purchase of NCC stamps. You have until February 24, 2014 at 10:00PM EST to leave a comment on each of our designers blog posts.  The two random winners will be announced on the NCC Blog on February 25, 2014, be sure to check back there to see if you have won!

For my first card, I used the beautiful Floral Sentiments 4. I paired it with some of the gorgeous Heart & Soul paper from ODBD and I used an ODBD die for the greeting tab and side tab next to the lilacs. After coloring the lilacs, I traced a frame around them and did what I call a “cutaway” technique by cutting out the background inside the frame. I placed a plum heather piece of card stock behind the image before attaching it to the dp. A pale pink heather card stock I had just happened to match the dp, so I stamped the flower from the ODBD Ornate Borders & Flowers set using the Distress ink. After die cutting partial shapes, I attached it all to the dp along with some layered ODBD Beautiful Borders across the bottom.

The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.

    Supplies:

Stamps: North Coast Creations – Floral Sentiments 4, ODBD Ornate Borders & Flowers
Paper: X-Press It, ODBD Heart & Soul paper, pink heather, plum heather
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versfine onyx (greeting), Distress Ink Victorian velvet
Accessories:  Copic markers, ODBD Beautiful Borders dies, Spellbinders rectangle dies, Candi dots

On my second card, I used the gorgeous Floral Sentiments 6. I stamped the hydrangea 3 times, colored it with Copics and fussy cut them. I made the hydrangeas the color of the ones in my front yard. I had a frame that was a die cut leftover so I used it on top of a white die cut ODBD Quatrefoil Pattern. For the background  I used a bleeding tissue technique piece I made a long time ago.  It’s simple to do, but not all tissue paper will bleed when wet. I believe the brand I used was Spectra. All you do is tear some tissue, place it on gloss or semi gloss (poster board) card stock, and spritz with water. You can leave it until it almost dries (for more dramatic color) or pull it off sooner for a more pastel look. This was on the pastel end of the scale. I thought the colors would be perfect for the hydrangeas. Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
The bow was also colored with Copics to match and the greeting was stamped on die cut tag from the ODBD Recipe & Tag die set. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used. Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

  • ODBD February Look Back!

    Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
Today we are revisiting the ODBD February Release! And what a fabulous release it was! Don’t you just LOVE the heart dies, lacy border dies and beautiful hearts and greetings? And the beautiful Heart & Soul paper! Go ahead and get 2 of those pads…they are gorgeous and you won’t feel bad when you use the first one up!

After I stamped the beautiful heart image with the mahogany ink onto the pale pink card stock, I added just a bit of shading with a pink Copic marker and die cut it w/ the matching die. The dk red layer was also die cut w/ the larger scalloped heart die. I added a few smaller die cut hearts w/ the tiny dot heart die. The lacy border was die cut out the pale pink and the greeting was die cut w/ and oval die. I realize that Valentine’s Day was last week, but my hubby was out of town all week (yes, he missed all the snow we had), so I had to wait until he came home to give it to him. Since his home page has my blog feed at the top, he sees everything, lol. The hearts, greeting and border were all  attached to a large piece of the ODBD Heart & Soul collection paper and the finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the sets & dies I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please be sure and stop by all of the Design Team’s blogs for more inspiration!

    Doodled Heart Bunches

I’m adding this next card I made for the LOVEFEST2014C, Doodled Love challenge on Splitcoast. I used doodle all the time but I’ve gotten out of the habit, so I went the simple route and doodled a border around the white panel & also around all the little hearts.

  • Big LOVE

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com
A big congrats to Kathleen, the newest Featured Stamper (FS366)! What a wonderful gallery she has and I chose THIS card of hers to case. I was really struck by the die cut word LOVE so I kept that and the red/white Valentine colors. I used a different greeting, different die cuts and different papers.

For my die cut LOVE, I used the LVE letters from a Spellbinders set and the heart shape from the ODBD Ornate Hearts die set. Since they are individual letters, I cut them one at a time so I could place them closer together and I tilted the heart because I liked it better. The letters showed up better against the dk red bg instead of the print, but I added a stamped heart bg using white ink behind the heart shape. The greeting was split and I left out the center word “love” to be replaced by the die cut “love”. The border is one of the Beautiful Border dies threaded w/ a very thin strip of white card stock and turned upside down because I didn’t have room for the rest of it. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Congrats again to Kathleen! Thanks so much for stopping by!
