  • North Coast Creation February Release!

Posted on February 28, 2017 7:58 AM by Julie 2 Comments

Welcome to the North Coast Creations February Release! Just in time for Easter! We have some adorable images & a matching die for this sweet little chick.
To make my little Chickie Easter card, after stamping & die cutting the sweet chick, I die cut a white panel first w/ the largest pierced rectangle die then I used a double stitched square to cut out the opening. I came across a white pegboard die cut from ages ago & thought it looked good behind the opening. A blue stripe paper was added behind it then the chick, greeting, some clouds, the sun & some grass were added to fill in the spring scene. I used a Copic marker to add some darker green streaks to the pale green grass & after die cutting it, I used a smaller pierced rectangle to add the piercing along the bottom & sides of the grass.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

    Supplies:

Stamps: North Coast Creations – Hey Chickie, (inside – Happy Easter Egg)
Paper: X-Press It white, Staples 110# white, blue stripe, lime green
    Ink: Memento tuxedo black
Accessories:  NCC Chick die,  ODBD Pierced Rectangles,  Double Stitched Squares,  Clouds & Raindrops, Pegboard, Grass, Sunburst Bg dies, Copic markers, Misti, Spellbinders A2 matting basics A

My second card features this modern Easter Egg frame image & eggs. I knew I wanted to go w/ a pink/purple palette and when I came across the Chalkboard Vine emboss resist bg already done in these colors, I used it for my large background.
After stamping the oval egg frame w/ the grape ink, I colored it, die cut it w/ a large oval then added some stickles. The greeting part was colored, die cut & added to a pierced purple oval layer. The fussy cut eggs where added in the lower corner.

Here are the Copics I used.

    Supplies:

Stamps: North Coast Creations – Happy Easter Egg: ODBD – Chalkboard Vine Bg (retired)
Paper: Staples 110# white, dk purple
Ink: Memento grape, Colorbox frost white pigment, Kaliedacolor berry blaze
Accessories:  ODBD Pierced Rectangles, Pierced Ovals dies, Copic markers, Misti, Spellbinders A2 matting basics petite ovals dies, stickles, white embossing powder

Today’s Sketch Challenge (SC586) has sort of a grid layout. I thought this paint chip down the side was a good representation of the divided side panels.
    Spring Dogwood cu 08803
This is a very quick card…I already had the white panel that the circle cut out of it so I stamped, colored & fussy cut the dogwoods to add in the opening. It’s backed w/ a chocolate panel that all I had to do was trim the length. The greeting was added in Versafine sepia ink & I used a bracket border die for the paint chip.

Here are the Copics I used.

This is for two challenges on Splitcoast today…MIX112 & QFTD254. For the QFTD, I chose THIS card of Lee Ann’s..I kept the layout & spring colors, but used flowers instead of butterflies & moved the greeting. for the MIX, I used dye inks to sponge the colors on my side panel, then I spritzed it w/ gold shine spray and I also heat embossed the flowers, greeting and splatter on the right side.
    Daisy Smile 05929
After sponging, spritzing and edging the left side panel w/ a gold leaf pen, I gold embossed a dragonfly on it. The larger white panel was die cut, the greeting & splatter were also gold embossed along w/ another dragonfly. The flowers were gold embossed, fussy cut, added on top & a crystal added in the center of each. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you haven’t yet, please check out the DRS Thursday Challenge...this week it’s a color challenge. DRS images are not required & there’s a nice prize for one lucky winner!
