A big congrats to Brenda the newest Featured Stamper!  I chose THIS card of hers to case. I kept the pocket w/ insert & birthday theme, but I used different images, different colors & I left off the cute kitty in her picture.

Welcome to the May Challenge for Serendipity Stamps! This month the challenge is My Girl (feminine card)! The Design Team has the added challenge of making either a pocket, special fold card or a gift box. You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog.  We have something new…a “Stamp of the Month”. Each month a different image will be 50% off. This month- it’s the Aprons. Be sure to check out the great deals on the Clearance Stamps, too. And as always, we have a  have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.

For my project, I made a crossover pocket card. It’s actually only a pocket, as it doesn’t open, with an insert for the greeting. I had this green dp with flowers & glittered centers and I thought it would work well for the front of the pocket. I added a mottled orange dp and borders of the die cut Daisy Border. I used a portion of the Daisy Garden die for the faux belt across the front and added a glitter die cut buckle to finish the belt.
    Celebrate Pocket apart 06379
For the insert, I used a white panel I had die cut and cut the top off in order to add the Celebrate die cut on top. It was die cut once out of polka dot orange dp and 3 times out of heavy white. I attached the orange to one of the white cuts, stacked the other 2 white cuts together and glued them with the top of the insert in between. The cute little Daisy is new and I stamped, colored & fussy cut it. After attaching it, I stamped the Special Day greeting over it and the big Happy Birthday below it. A couple of orange die cut corners to the lower edge. These are the Copics I used on the flower.

If you’d like the instructions for the pocket, here are the measurements. (Click any pictures to make them larger.) After I cut the green flower print dp, I also cut an orange layer the same size then trimmed them both down to layer on the white card. Another orange piece of dp was added to the inside of the pocket & after these were attached, I added a strip of double sided tape across the lower edge & down the inside of the top right side of the pocket to permanently close it. The insert simply slips inside the pocket.

    Amazing Azaleas cu06326
    Weekly-FavoriteBest of 2015 SCS
The theme for the Ways to Use It Challenge (WT531) is May Flowers. I recently finished this watercolor azalea card and it fits right in. Most of our azaleas in the yard have finished blooming but we have some satsuki azaleas in back that are just starting to bloom. I won this set from a challenge & I really wanted to use it for this card.
    Amazing Azaleas 06325
I was playing around with my recently arrived order of Brushos and for this background, I used them pretty much as you would normal watercolors. I wet the w/c paper, sprinkled on some pinks, reds, yellows & oranges then sort of blended out the heavy concentrations of color. After drying it with a heat gun, I stamped the azaleas w/ the Versafine then reverse painted them…meaning I used plain water, a paintbrush & a paper towel to lift some color from the flowers so they wouldn’t be as dark as the background. I also added some drops in the background using water. The oval was die cut out of the background, matted then replaced & the greeting stamped in the white space at the bottom. I saw that Power Poppy was having a May challenge to Cut It Out, so I stamped the azaleas again and cut them out. All of the white, non-colored azaleas were fussy cut. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and here’s a look at the inside. I left it blank so I could decide later what greeting to use.

    Flowers Wish 06286
Well, the added the challenge for the DT is a partial die cut…and I totally missed it. I was looking forward to it but I just had it in my head that it was for the next challenge. 🙁 I do have a partially embossed background so maybe that will suffice.

I started by stamping the Summer Flower Pops Background with the combo of chalk inks onto white card stock then I die cut one large, one small rectangle & one oval to back the greeting. I edged the rectangle layers with blue & green permapaque markers to give them a little more definition. The greeting was put together with two stamps & two of the chalk ink colors.
    Flowers Wish cu06285
The upper corners & lower edge were punched & I added a turquoise layer underneath so the punch work would show up better. Some extra flowers (from the same punch) were added here & there along w/ some crystals & silky blue bow w/ a cut glass button on top.

Here’s a look at the inside using a narrow leftover frame along with a flower corner stamp.
    Flowers Wish inside 06291
And don’t forget the 50% off stamp of the month…Aprons! Here’s a card I made way back when using it, in case you need a little inspiration! (If you click the picture, it will take you to the details.)
