For today’s Clean & Simple Challenge (CAS284), we are casing a CAS DT Alumni, Tenia. I chose THIS card. I love all the greens. I did use different images and made my horizontal. I am also adding this to Sylvia’s DTGD Challenge, DTGD14~Fee~.

On a die cut rectangle, I stamped the little pea pod & greeting, colored them the die cut the triple row of squares. I did have to do it one end at a time to make the cut shorter than the die actually cuts. I used the same green Copics to make a green ombre strip to put behind the cut out. I added a narrow black frame to set it off. Then I attached a stamped green strip across the bottom of my 5.50 x 4.25 card. These are the Copics I used.

    Best of 2014!
A big congrats to Katie, the newest Queen for the Day (QFTD220) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery and I was so pleased to be asked by Trish to be a Guest Designer for her crowning! There are a lot of cards I wanted to case, but THIS one really stuck in my head. I guess I’m just crazy for color…especially rainbows of color. That’s about the only thing my card has in common with Katie’s fun card. Not really sure how it went from cute little chicks to tall skyscrapers, but there you go.

Christmas Rainbow 04145For my card, I stamped my newly acquired Christmas scene twice and colored the buildings on both but only the sky/moon on one. I cut off the lower row w/ the Jingle Bell greeting in favor of a larger one underneath.  I die cut a square window on the black layer, and a slightly larger window on the white layer. The extra row of buildings was fussy cut and popped up on top of the window and slightly down.

After stamping the greeting, I added a single row of a die cut border and attached a rainbow strip behind it. This was a tad challenging since it’s a 3 row die & I also made the row shorter than the actual die. So to do this, I cut my strip the size I needed, put the die on top w/ only 1 row on the paper and only cut half way down. Took it out, and turned the die around (so it would have finished ends on both sides) and cut the other half. This is similar to the tutorial I did a long time ago: Resizing Your Nesties.  The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Congrats again, Katie!

    Lighthouse 03873
For my all die cut card, I die cut two lighthouse, one in caribbean, one white…one orange sunflower, and two Hello’s, one white, one orange. The white, orange and caribbean layers were die cut w/ the matting basics dies and I also used an IO grid border die on the larger white layer. The grid is 3 long rows so I had to cut it 3 times to go across this layer. I only used the petal part of the sunflower die and put it behind the top of the lighthouse. Since some of the orange petals showed through, I added the white cut outs from the white lighthouse version to cover it. The two hello’s were stacked offset on top of each other and an orange button w/ some twine finished everything.

Please be sure to stop and comment on all the DT blogs so you’ll be eligible to win!
