  • Serendipity SSCB #25 – Shaped Cards

Weekly-Favorite Welcome to a new challenge for  Serendipity Stamps! The Serendipity Challenge this week is a Shaped Card.

I went with a snow globe shape for my little shaker card. The wonderful winter scene was stamped and colored with Copics then I added stickles to the snow for some sparkle and white dots to the sky for falling snow. While that was drying, I die cut a snow globe out of silver card stock and a larger circle to go with it. I used another size circle to cut a piece of acetate for the front. It is big enough to fit between the smaller and larger silver circles so the edges will be covered. For fun, I die cut a snowy border die out of white then snipped off a bunch of the snowflakes and sandwiched them between the layers.

I traced around the snow globe shape on my folded white card and fussy cut it in the same shape. After cutting the scene into a circle, I elevated the acetate layers, making sure it had silicone sealant all the way around, then added some tiny silver beads and round silver confetti (not too much..I didn’t want it cover up the scene) before sealing them together. A silver string and bow were added to the top. So it’s a card…it’s a snow globe…it’s a shaker ornament to hang on the tree! These are the Copics I used to color the scene.

  • Christmas Owl

    Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

Weekly-FavoriteToday’s Color Challenge on Splitcoast (CC453), artichoke, cherry & baked brown sugar, are such great colors for Christmas that I made another card. Mary (owner of Serendipity Stamps), asked if anyone could think of a way to make this super owl die look Christmasy. This is what I came up with using the hat and scarf from the Snowman w/ Birds image.  Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

After die cutting the owl, I attached him to a piece of dk red. Originally I had die cut a smaller labels 4, but I changed my mind and put the die cut label back into the piece and used it as one. I had a scrap of an artichoke piece so I used it on the right side. The snowy scene was stamped onto the kraft (as close as I have to the baked brown sugar) and I added snow on the trees w/ a white gel pen. The snow on the ground was done w/ a white prismacolor pencil. The falling snow was done by seriously thinning white acrylic paint (approx. 6 to 1 water/paint) in a fine mister and spritzing. I wanted something else red, so I drew a tiny cardinal in the tree. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25. These are the Copics I used to color the hat & scarf.

  • Serendipity SSCB #23 – Paper Scraps

    Julie Warner – https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

Welcome to a new challenge for  Serendipity Stamps! The Serendipity Challenge this week is Paper Scraps…make a project and use up some of those paper scraps you have!

For my scrap buster card, I used a whole bunch of little card stock strips..some plain, some embossed. I always have these little strips left when I trim images and I’m pretty well known for saving everything, lol. I’ve made these type of strip backgrounds before, so I dug out some Christmas colors of these strips and stuck them onto a piece of sticker paper. Originally it was 4 x 5.25, but it looked a bit too busy so I cut it down to about 2 x 5 and attached it to left side of my 4.25 x 5.50 card.

After stamping the tree image on white, I also stamped it a few times on some designer paper scraps and paper pieced them onto the base image. I added just a little color w/ Copics and die cut it. One of the Merrys was stamped on a scrap of white and I used a smaller Labels 17 to cut the right side of it.
