Welcome to  the February challenge for  Serendipity Stamps!  We’re switching things up a bit in 2014…The challenges will now be MONTHLY so you have longer to play. The design team will still provide inspiration twice a month (every other Wednesday), but you will have the whole month to play along! The Serendipity Challenge this month is Type Print or Sheet Music.  And for the Design Team, we’ve added the twist of a blended color background with the print. You can find all the details on how to play along with us at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog. With each challenge we always have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player. The special this week is Buy 3 items, get a 4th one free.   Lowest priced item in cart is free.   Good through 2/26.

For the continuation of the Serendipity February Challenge, I used this beautiful Spring in Provence image for the main attraction. After coloring it with Copics, I die cut it with a deckled rectangle. On a piece of text printed designer paper, I first used a brayer, then sponged on different colors of ink. I wasn’t real happy with the look, so I tried spritzing it with a white Mr. Huey’s spray. Still wasn’t working for me, so I added some gold ink spot images and some teal Nature Gives quotes here and there.. Better, but not quite it. Then I took out a big paint brush and some dye inks thinned with water and did several light ink washes over it.  You can still see some of the original text in areas so I decided to quit before the paper fell apart, lol. I added a rust layer behind the image and a larger vanilla deckled layer that I had to resize from a long deckled rectangle.

A leftover vanilla strip was embossed and added to the right side before attaching to the sponged, painted text background and these are the Copics I  used for the image.

For my foodie card using type print, I chose this sweet cupcake & candle die. I die cut the cupcake a few times out of white card stock, glued two together and attached them over a fussy cut cupcake. To know where to cut the solid version, I use the die to just emboss (not cut) another cupcake, then cut around the outside edge. The third die cut version I colored w/ yellow and pink Copic markers then attached it on top for a little more dimension. Then I added some stickles on the icing for a little sparkle.

The type print is all over the paper I used. I thought this collection of Basic Grey would be perfect as every piece has type print all over it. I die cut the pink layers around the cupcake and fussy cut the black print layer. The bottom of two of the larger layers were die cut with a border die and I used some Ranger black enamel to make the black dots. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

This is the final day of the Serendipity Blog Hop and our last die to show you is this beautiful Ladybug! It is so detailed! The scoring and different size circles are just wonderful. It may be cliche, but I immediately thought red, white & black. A little funny, because ALL of the ladybugs we have around here are orange and black. Must be a different variety. Anyway, I die cut 3 ladybugs…1 red, 1 black & 1 white. The red is the main ladybug and I used the lg dots from the black version & small dots from the white version & I added dots w/ a white gel pen to the centers of the lg black dots.. I added a white die cut blossom layer underneath the ladybug and a die cut white flower.

The red background was stamped w/ a cute little ladybug image and some black & white dp that I’ve had forever seemed to be a good match. The greeting was die cut with a fishtail banner & I found a package of little ladybug clothespins so I added it to the banner. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Now I’ll send you on to your next stop…the blog of the wonderful Karen Amidon!
