    Autumn Sunflowers 07248
My autumn sunflower card started with my stamped background. I love the Floral Alphabet S and I thought it would make a terrific background. I stamped it repeatedly across the kraft card stock with Versafine then added just a hint of color with a couple of Prismacolor pencils to the curvy letter S. The sunflowers (from the Fall Pops set) were stamped twice onto another piece of kraft c/s (using my Misti)..first with Memento, then colored with Prismacolor pencils…then over stamped with Versafine. I love how this brings back the details that I used to lose when using Prisma pencils. One image was die cut w/ an oval die & the other was fussy cut to add on top. I added a couple of layers behind it & on the large scallop kraft layer, I used a technique I devised way back in 2008 to “resize” the dies…I extended the length of the scallop rectangle. The original die is nowhere near as long as it is on my card. But as long as the original die is symmetrical, this technique will work. The Autumn die cut was added along with a white Candi dot. The white dots were added with a white gel pen.
Here’s a look at the inside using some leftover pieces & a scallop frame.

    Swim in the Sea 07199
For my cards, I went with the sea/ocean themed sets this month. My first card features the beautiful Under the Sea set. I stamped the dolphins first with Memento, masked the top area, stamped the sun from Hello Sunshine, then colored them. These are the rare pink bellied dolphins, lol. I liked the color combo so..there you go! I like shading & shadows to look believable, but I’m not particularly bothered by fantasy color combos. Since it was all still in my Misti, I over stamped with Versafine to make the details really stand out. (This does make a huge difference..you can see for yourself in a side by side comparison I did on THIS post.) The pink frame was die cut using the Layered Lacey Squares & the largest pink layer was die cut w/ the Flourished Star Pattern die (outer die only). In order to not cover up the tails on the right 2 dolphins, I trimmed around them & lifted them over the frame. I used an embossing folder on the teal background then added the greeting circles, a bow w/ a glittered brad and a wooden wave embellishment I had in my stash.

Here’s a look at the inside. The little silver thingies are die cut waste from one of the ODBD dies (I think it was the Ornamental Cross set).

My second card features the lovely Deep Waters set.
    Keep Swimming 07195
The image was stamped first w/ Memento & colored with Copics. I wanted a real underwater  look, so I made sure to add streaks for the water as if the sun were playing with the underwater shadows. Most of the blue/green streaks were done going right over the fish because the colors won’t be quite as bright when viewed under the water. I used a blender to gently remove a bit of color on the tops & faces of the fish before adding the other colors to them. I framed it using a hexagon frame & some peach die cuts using the corner from the Ornate Borders & Flowers die set. The Fancy Foliage dies were used to die cut the faux coral out of vellum then I colored the back side using a Copic. The Fishing Net Bg was stamped on top of the teal paper. The greeting was die cut using one of the Mini Tag dies…I die cut to the middle, turned the die around & die cut the other half.  Stickles was added for sparkle & for the under water bubbles.

These are the Copics I used…let’s just call it a boatload of Copics, lol.

    NCC Owl Bday 07163
On my first card, I wanted a night time look, since owls are mostly nocturnal, so I started with a piece of textured navy card stock. The owls & branches were stamped first with Memento, colored with Copics,  over stamped with Versafine, then die cut with the matching dies. I used a series of circle dies to cut out the circle for the “moon” and the white ring around it. The moon, the Flourished Vine, Happy Birthday & largest yellow layer were sponged because I didn’t have the color of yellow I wanted.

My next card has the entire, cute as can be, owl family again. NCC Thinking Owls cu 07177

After stamping, coloring & die cutting as before, I thought they would look cute if I had them in their “rooms” in the trees. So I stamped the ODBD Birch Tree Bg on white, added just a hint of color, then die cut the holes & added rings around them to help set them apart.
    NCC Thinking Owls 07176
After adding a black layer behind the birches, I put my owls in the holes then added a finely corrugated tan layer. Three tree limbs were stamped, die cut & attached vertically. The greeting was die cut twice, stacked together for dimension and added to a tan die cut oval.
