For the Inspiration Challenge (IC651) on Splitcoast, Brenda chose a lovely site & I chose THIS for my inspiration.
I started by die cutting the circle out then making a watercolor bg on it & splattering it w/ white paint. I put it back together & put the whole front panel into my Misti & I had to stamp the silhouette trees several times to get them dark enough. Part of a greeting was added & a die cut Wish. I used a white marker to fill in the moon & add the sparkling lines to the “stars”. A little Wink of Stella was added to the moon & stars, as well.

Here’s a look at the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Mail Dog

Posted on March 23, 2017 10:59 AM by Julie Comment

Today’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT628) is a tribute to National Puppy Day. While I don’t have a dog in real life, I do have a cute one on my card & he’s learned to put mail in the mailbox. What a champ!  And on the subject of dogs…the last dog I had was a blonde cocker spaniel named Tigger. We also had a conure (parrot) we named Odie. We called him Odie (after the cartoon dog on Garfield) because he thought he was a dog. He learned to bark from Tigger, but his bark sounded kind of far away. We realized he was imitating the dog when he was barking from the back yard. The parrot we have now is named Linus (after the character on Charlie Brown). He also barks because he learned it from Odie. Guess I also have a thing for cartoon characters, lol.   Here’s a pic of Odie on his favorite cup.

    In memory of Odie 1985-2012

To make my mail dog card, I put together 3 different images..the dog w/ the fence is one. Originally he had a big stick in his mouth but I drew a letter to replace the stick. The lovebirds on the branch is another & the third is the mailbox, which originally had a big smiling daisy w/ a letter in its leaf. So there was some masking going on here. After I colored everything, I used a self made cloud stencil & sponged in the sky, & stamped a lines bg, tone on tone on the blue frame.

Here are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Winter Blue

Posted on January 28, 2017 10:45 PM by Julie 1 Comment

Congrats to Carolyn, the newest Featured Stamper  (FS521) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery & I really fell for THIS one. I liked the matching border & embossing folder but since I don’t have any like that, I used a different folder, different image & made mine monochromatic instead of rainbow colors.

My winter card has a white background embossed w/ a folder that has the dots on top & snowflakes below. The folder has a blank band in between the two, but it’s covered up by my image panel. The image was stamped w/ the navy blue ink onto a stitched panel & I added just strips of the dk blue card stock on top & bottom. Only the first part of the greeting was stamped on a white circle & backed w/ a dk blue stitched circle. Just a little stickles was added on the trees for some winter sparkle.

Here’s the inside…I must apologize for how blotchy it looks. I was anxious to get it in the mail & already wrote a message inside before I took the picture. The picture suffers some from photo editing to try to blot it out, lol.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
