Marvelous Blooms

For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC737), Stacy chose a group of tote bags. Lots to choose from & for my card, I was inspired by the bright colors of THIS tote bag.

After I colored the daisies, I used a trio of blue Copics to color in the bg around the flowers. Thankfully it was a small area because it’s harder than it looks. And from experience, start w/ the lightest color first..it’s really hard to walk that dark color back, lol. I added a white frame to brighten it up a bit then attached it to the embossed orchid colored bg. I thought this embossing folder mimicked the quilting of the tote bag & I used a white gel pen to add dots at the intersections. The greeting was stamped w/ the dk navy ink & I drew the little flower over the i.

Joy Ornament Bough

Welcome to December! I made this for 2 Splitcoast Challenges..the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club December Christmas Challenge & the Featured Stamper (FS669) where the FS is my friend Kia! I chose THIS card as my inspiration. I loved the layout & framing so I kept those, but I used different images/dies & opted to use an embossed & sponged frame instead of stenciling. As for the Christmas Challenge, you’ll need to be Fan Club member but that’s easy…just click the blue link to find out how. Bet you’re wondering what the challenge theme is..I’d love to tell you but you’ll have to go see for yourself.

For my card, I used some deckle rectangle dies to make 2 sizes of frames. On the white one, I sponged the inside & outside edges to give it some contrast & on the larger one, I ran it thru w/ an embossing folder then lightly sponged over the top of the embossing. The ornament branch was colored & die cut w/ its matching die & I used fun foam to pop it & the frame up a bit. A couple of die cut cardinals were added for a little pop of red.

The greeting was stamped & I used my out of the box die cutting technique on it. It works the same way as it does when using an image…just make your cuts right on the black lines where they go inside the die.

Christmas Boots

This is for 2 challenges on Splitcoast, the Color (CC766), red, green & brown, & the Ways to Use It (WT767), use kraft. This will also go to one of our relatives still living in Texas. I usually make at least 1 Texas or western theme Christmas card every year.

My card is pretty CAS (clean & simple). I stamped the boot image, masked it, then stamped it again to make a pair. The greeting is actually a combo of two different ones. For the Santa hat, I stamped & colored it on a scrap & fussy cut it. The red panel was embossed to add a little texture & a piece of holly I had left over was added in the corner.

Here’s the inside & also the Copics I used. The greeting here is perfect for a Texan. Anyone who’s ever met a Texan knows we’re always ‘fixin’ to do something.
