    Happy Columbus Day!

This card was made for two challenges at Splitcoast: yesterday’s Featured Stamper (FS192) and today’s Technique Lover’s Challenge (TLC294). For the FS challenge, I chose Jenn’s CAS Trees. I kept the 3 repeated images and horizontal layout, but used different images and offset them slightly. I also changed the colors. For the TLC challenge, I used damp water color paper but instead of stamping with ink, I scribbled water color crayons directly onto the stamp, misted it, then stamped onto the w/c paper.

All images are Innovative Stamp Creations. After I colored, misted and stamped  the sunflower block  individual sunflower 3 times, I used a lt brown gel pen to add a little definition and cross hatching to the images. I used deckle scissors to cut out the blocks and attached them to a piece of turquoise card stock. I stamped the greeting in the lower right then used a white gel pen to highlight and a dk orange pen to shadow the letters. It’s attached to a white, 5.5 x 4.25 (A2) card. The sunflowers were added and a cut out butterfly. I made 3 faux brads and attached them to the lower right card front.

    BEST OF 2010

For my card, I used the new Randi’s Song set. I love the leaf block and beautiful script. I had some left over background from long ago projects and the colors just said Fall to me. I stamped the leaf block image 6 times onto an alcohol ink background (polished stone technique) and cut out three of the leaves to pop them up on the base image.  On the marigold layer, I stamped the script multiple times with the gold ink. I also stamped the shadow leaf with gold ink and the leaf veins using a Kpad. It’s attached to another background I call Gilded Rainbow (here’s the tutorial for this technique). The dk redwood brown layer was cut with deckle scissors and all layers were edged with a gold leafing pen. I wrapped some gold thread around the brown layer then attached it to a 8.5 x 4 (fits a #9 business envelope) card. The card was also marigold in color, but since I couldn’t find just the right color of rich paprika, I sponged it with color until I liked it.

I love this new Brocade Background and the Never Thirst set is wonderful and I combined them for my card. A rainbow ink pad was used to brayer a piece of white card stock and the brocade was stamped over it with black ink. The well was stamped and colored with markers. After die cutting it (using the out of the box Nesite technique), I left the die in place and sponged some ink inside. Silver highlights were added with a metallic pen. I cut out an extra bucket to attach on the base image for a little dimension. After stamping the Proverb, I rounded the left corners and wrapped the right edge over the top two layers. I made a 1/2 inch faux brad out of some leftover background  and attached it to a 5/8 inch mustard circle.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Your next stop will be Chris’ Blog and I know she’ll have something gorgeous to share.
