For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC645), Angie chose Cuddle + Kind. A really cute place w/ a big heart. I chose THIS as my inspiration because I knew I had a similar greeting. I didn’t have a similar cute reindeer that I could use so I used a pig w/ a big grin.

Normally, this pig image has a party hat along w/ a balloon but since I fussy cut him, I cut off the party hat. The small balloon was stamped again w/ lt blue ink, colored & fussy cut. All the other balloons were made by die cutting 2 sizes of balloons in a piece of copy paper & using the negative as a stencil. After I sponged the Distress inks thru the stencil I added some Wink of Stella to some of them. The greeting was stamped at the bottom & I used Copics to make the shadow underneath. A few grad caps & some drawn balloon strings & I was done!

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Elroy & Astro

Posted on May 15, 2017 11:22 AM by Julie Comment

Today’s Clean & Simple Challenge (CAS429) on Splitcoast asks us to “get techy” & show/use some kind of technology. I’m sure a whole lot of technology went into the space program.
In fact, growing up The Jetsons was one my fave cartoons & I couldn’t wait to grow up & have Rosie be my robot maid or have a flying space car or dinner from an electronic dumbwaiter in the wall. Hmmm…I’m still waiting!  But I do have George Jetson’s boy Elroy & his dog Astro on my card. The image was stamped, colored & fussy cut to add to a bg I made ages ago & near as I can remember, it was sponged w/ the distress inks then stenciled w/ white pigment ink. I stamped the image again on this bg in order to have the stars, which I colored in & added Wink of Stella. The cut out circle was added back w/ the greeting on top.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the DRS Giveaway!

Since the challenge is to NOT color the image, I thought I’d sneak in under the radar by coloring the faux stitched circles on the narrow panel underneath.  I saw a card Jennifer Dove made where she drew the faux stitched circles & I thought how fun it would be to try it. So I used a circle maker to draw all the circles & added the stitch lines, then I colored them in. My circles need a bit more practice but all in all, it was fun. Except for the part where I used the long banner I already had (out of other card stock) instead of cutting it again out of X-Press It. I tested the red Copics on it (which are notorious for bleeding out of the lines) & they were fine. I didn’t test the turquoise. It spread like crazy! So I redid those on the other paper, hand cut them & glued them on top. What a pain! At least the rest of the card was easy…just some die cuts.

Here’s the inside made with the rest of my test cases (except the turquoise…I did those on the X-Press It) which were also fussy cut. Below it are the Copics I used for my faux stitched circles.
