• Best Bouquet

A floral bouquet card with lots of flowers all wrapped up in a pretty wrapper. All done in shades of purple and some pretty flower paper backing it up.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC959) we are visiting Whistlefish & their Pinterest Boards where I saw THIS lovely picture to use for my inspiration.

My card had a little bit of an unusual start..after looking at some of the pics on the site, I went to bed thinking “what am I going to make?” I was drawing a bit of a blank. When I woke up the next morning, I had a picture in my head & this is almost exactly what I pictured. Hardly ever happens like that, but it’s great when it does. The card is pretty self explanatory. I die cut all the flowers & put them together & arranged them inside the wrapper. For a little interest, I added some bits of sparkly tulle in the top of the wrapper & a few sequins below. The bottom of the white panel was cut w/ part of a gift card border. I accidentally had it turned upside down & it cut the entire bottom off. Oops..so I turned it around, added a little strip of the floral paper & called it done.

    Thanks
    so much for stopping by!

  • Birthday Butterflies

A birthday card sure to brighten a special someone’s day! All colors of the rainbow adorn the stenciled stripe strip & are continued in the trio of fancy butterflies. Touches of black make the colors pop!

A big congrats to Beth, the newest Featured Stamper (FS897)! She has a super gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the birthday & butterflies theme, but I used different images, colors & dies, stenciled the stripes instead of using designer paper, and added some narrow black framing.

My rainbow bright card started w/ the stenciled strip. I used almost every color of ink in the Color Fuse series, a distressed stripe stencil and some detail brushes. I used parts of a scallop rectangle frame die to border the strip & help it stand out. The fancy butterflies were colored & die cut w/ their coordinating dies. I used a little foam to pop them up. I liked this particular birthday greeting for its tall letters and graphic look. To me, it paired well w/ the stripes above it.

A narrow black layer was added behind the main panel to tie it all together.
Here are the Copics I used on the butterflies:

  • So Loved

    x2
A bright, flowery card perfect for Mother’s Day, an upcoming graduate, birthday or just to say you are loved. Two pink inks were used to get this super bright bougainvillea color that jumps off the page.

For the Inspiration Challenge, we are visiting A Beautiful Mess & their Pinterest Board where I saw THIS lovely picture. I adore the bright color so I went about trying to recreate it on my card.

After a couple of attempts, I arrived at a very close match for the color, by using 2 of the Color Fuse inks in set #5. After die cutting the Bunch of Blooms stems, I used the detail brushes to add the ink color to them. The wood planks were die cut & just to make sure the woodgrain was raised, I ran them thru w/ the embossing mat, too. Then I used the lighter of the two inks & brushed that across the entire areas. I used the darker pink pad to rub directly over the planks & I love how it just hit the high spots giving me a two tone effect. The planks were attached to a white rectangle, then bordered w/ a scallop edge rectangle.

I brushed the ink over the little die cut flowers before shaping them & attaching them. A little yellow stickles was added to their centers. For the greeting, I took part of the So Loved & stamped it, masking off the part I didn’t want to stamp. The die cut Loved is actually 2 word w/ shadow dies..the Love & the d from Friend. It wasn’t hard to combine the two.
