Today’s Free For All (F4A363) Challenge asks us to make a Valentine. My Valentine  greeting & Love Maze images are wonderful all by themselves…but I couldn’t resist putting a pink pig into the mix. Especially when it’s Cupig! I colored him a little more pinky so his colors wouldn’t clash w/ the very pinky reds I’d already used to color the other images. I’ll admit…there was a lot of fussy cutting going on here, but I really liked having a black bg & it was the only way to have the lighter images show up.
After I die cut the black panel, I added all the fussy cut images. It’s a toss up which was harder..the teeny tiny arrow or the teeny tiny hearts. The inside of the O was tough, too. Inside curves are always hard but a little trick I figured out. If you’re going to attach it to black, just use a black marker around the inside (& outside edges) to cover any white that’s showing & it will disguise any imperfections in the cutting. By the way..there is a way thru the Love maze. I found it pretty easily but when I drew it w/ a red pen, it wasn’t very visible so I colored everything below the line. There may even be more than one way, but this is mine.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Monster Love

Posted on February 1, 2017 6:53 PM by Julie 2 Comments

I made this really bright, neon pink & blue Valentine for a couple of Splitcoast challenges…the Sketch (SC630) & the Clean & Simple (CAS414). The CAS challenge theme was Peek a Boo & that’s why my little monster is coming thru the heart opening. I started to try & work in the Color Challenge, too, but I already had this cutie colored & die cut & no way was he even close to right colors.

I already knew I wanted this to be a Valentine so I used the Monster Love greeting & had the smiley monster coming out of a heart shaped opening in a much larger heart. To have the greeting & stripe hearts show up on the blue, I heat embossed them using a bright magenta powder.

Behind the lg neon pink heart, I attached a heart cut out of thin foam to elevate it a bit. I also added a piece of white behind the monster so he wouldn’t fade into the blue of the bg.

Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used.

  • Serendipity February Blog Hop #1!

Posted on February 1, 2017 12:00 AM by Julie 16 Comments

Welcome to the February #1 Blog Hop for Serendipity Stamps!

If you arrived here from Miriam’s blog, you’re in the right place..if not, you may want to head over there first.

The Prize – One $20 gift code will go to one random commenter from the blogs. So be sure  to visit all the blogs because you don’t know which one the winner will be drawn from. You have through Sunday Feb 5 to leave comments on the blogs for a chance to win. Mary will announce a winner on Feb 6 on her Blog.  Each month a different image is 50% off. This month- it’s the Fun Heart Cling Set! On the first & third Wednesdays of every month., we’ll be celebrating with a Blog Hop!

To make my Valentine, I did things backwards from the way I usually do. I picked the paper first, instead of coloring the images, then picking paper. It just seemed the better way to go since there isn’t a lot of coloring to do w/ these images. After I had the 3 pieces I wanted to use from the collection, I found a solid pink that would work & put it into my Misti. They were stamped first w/ the Memento, then I added just a hint of pink w/ a couple of Copics & a little white to the mailbox & envelope w/ a white Prismacolor pencil. I stamped over it w/ the Versafine, added the greeting, then added some pink sparkle w/ a Wink of Stella pen. Sorry you really can’t see it in pictures, but in person, it adds a nice sparkle. The little hearts were cut using the Love die onto some leftover pink w/ another partial image of the Mailbox w/ Hearts.

Here’s a look at the inside w/ more of the hearts.

Please be sure to comment on all the DT Blogs..it will be so appreciated & also increase your chances of winning!
