It’s my turn to host the Featured Stamper Challenge on Splitcoast (FS563) so a big Congrats to Helen, the newest Featured Stamper! She has a really sweet gallery & I chose THIS to case. I really liked the color combo & mixed media look of the background so I kept those, but I used different images, a different layout & made mine a Christmas card.
To make my card, The strip in the middle is actually part of a large tag I made w/ Distress inks & a little platinum Brilliance for some sparkle. The aqua & lime sparkle layers were die cut w/ curved dies & the largest lime sparkle was embossed on both ends. Though the small manger image was meant to be a postage frame, I wanted to use it on my card so I added the large star from the wisemen image in the center of the postage frame. For the rest of the wisemen, I stamped them on the aqua layer & added some white Prismacolor pencil highlights.
Here’s a look at the inside & below it are the Copics I used on small nativity image.
Supplies:
Stamps: DRS Designs – Jesus Heart Postage, Three Wisemen, (inside: Simplify Christmas Greeting) |
Paper:Â X-Press It white, lime sparkle, aqua, manilla tag |
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, Versafine onyx, Distress inks in twisted citron, tumbled glass, peacock feathers, evergreen bough, Brilliance platinum planet |
Accessories:Â Copic markers, Spellbinders rectangles, curved borders dies, Sizzix embossing folder (Snowflakes & Flourish set), white Prismacolor pencil |
And since it’s almost Thanksgiving, I also cased THIS card of Helen’s. I kept most of the layout, but used different colors, different images & turned mine horizontal.
This card was pretty quick & easy. I had a Wrinkle Free Distress background I made a while back that I stamped the leaves onto & fussy cut. The white rectangle with cut out hole was leftover from another project so I added the brown & gold layers then the greeting on a little word window tag.
Supplies:
Stamps: DRS Designs –  Open Leaf, Fall Leaf w/ Acorn, Happy Thanksgiving |
Paper:Â Staples 110# white, watercolor, brown textured, harvest gold |
Ink: Versafine vintage sepia, Â Distress inks rusty hinge, mustard seed, spiced marmalade |
Accessories:Â Spellbinder A2 matting basics A & B dies, Quickutz nesting ovals, sequins |
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Both cards are lovely, but the top one takes the cake. The complicated looking layers draws me in. Awesome job Julie. Like you, I’m a big fan of that colour combination.
Your Christmas card has me falling out of my seat. It is so well done with all the shapes, colours, designer paper, design layout. Love it!
Your fall card comes to life. You are a professional colour artist that’s for sure.
