A big congrats to Gayle, the newest Featured Stamper (FS730) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery & I was really intrigued by her 12 days of Christmas series & I chose THIS one to case. I liked the repetition of a single image, done in different colors so I kept that. I used different images, dies & colors & made mine a Thank You card. Gayle had 9 ladies &  actually, I had a 9th bird, but he just wouldn’t fit so I’m going w/ only 8.

This card was a lot of fun to make. I love rainbows & I love birds so a bunch of rainbow birds is the best of both worlds. They kind of look like a chorus line, don’t they? After stamping, coloring & die cutting them, all I had to do was arrange them on the slimline layers. Fitting the greeting was probably the hardest part. When you use up this much real estate, it doesn’t leave a lot of space so this was my solution. So I put the 8th bird down on the greeting level to kind of even things out.

I even gave them eyes to match their plumage. Are these a color coordinated bunch of birds, or what?

It also takes a bunch of Copics to color these characters. The R’s went on reddish bird. The B’s on blue bird. The Y’s + the YR24 went on yellow bird. The rest of the YR’s went on orange bird. BG’s on teal bird. G’s on green bird. YG’s on yellow-green bird (the one in front). And RV’s on pink bird. The C2 was only used to shade their eyes.

For the Splitcoast Inspiration Challenge (IC791) we’re headed to Shindigz (a party supply place) where I found THIS picture for my inspiration. I loved the color on the birches.

For my card, after die cutting the lt blue panel, I stamped it w/ the white ink using the dot bg. The birches were die cut & I used B66 & B32 Copics to shade the edges. The leaves on the bg were stamped using a couple of the blue ink & the ones on top were die cut & shaded w/ the same Copics.
