Eggcellent Easter cu 05835
Today we are taking another look at the Our Daily Bread designs March release! Such beautiful images, perfect dies & gorgeous paper for spring & Easter!
Eggcellent Eastef 05834
For my Easter basket card, I started with a piece of the beautiful Shabby Rose paper. I wanted a tone on tone sort of look so I kept the colors soft. The Victorian velvet ink is a good match for the paper & I only used a couple of Copics to color in my basket. Since generally, Copics & heat embossing don’t go together (the markers tend to “melt” the embossing), I had to go about it a little differently. I could have used water color paper & water based markers, but the texture of w/c paper doesn’t allow for smooth embossing. So here are a couple of pictures showing my work around for this conundrum. (Click to make any picture larger.)

First, I stamped the basket w/ the Victorian velvet ink and used the two colors of Copics shown to lightly color it in. It looks pretty good like this…a no line coloring sort of look. But I really wanted it white embossed. So I used a stamp positioner to line it up again, stamped it with white pigment ink and heat embossed with white powder, as shown below.

As you can see, the colors go with the paper just perfectly! I fussy cut the basket, stamped some of the eggs w/ the same Distress ink & die cut them with the matching dies. I added a die cut greeting and some white grass in and behind the basket. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 & here’s a look at the inside.

Shower 05915
For my Spring card, rain, umbrellas, flowers and showers come to mind when I think of Spring. I started by sponging a white panel from the top left corner down using the yellow inks and sponging the pink inks from the right corner up. I die cut the center panel out of the larger one using the stitched rectangle then stamped the flower corner w/ black in the upper left. I added just a bit more color to the flowers and leaves with Copics and used a white gel pen in the flower centers. After masking the flower corner, I stamped the beaded string background with white ink and white embossed it. I wiped a bit of the ink off the lower edge to make it an angled background.

I added some crystals to some of the dots and some clear dimensional glue (the closest thing I had to crystal effects) on the rest. It was also added to all the flower centers. You can probably see it a little better in the picture above. A few extra flowers were fussy cut and added here & there. The umbrella was die cut out of white & also vellum, the center was replaced w/ the vellum & the lacy topper added along with greeting. I added a narrow white layer under the top layer and attached it back on top of the original panel. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used on the flowers.

I used smaller sponged panel & umbrella on the inside along with the sponged Congratulations die cut.

NCC Irish Coffee cu 05896
For today’s Featured Stamper, (FS423) I cased THIS card. I kept most of the layout w/ the greeting pennant, but moved it up, changed the colors & papers & used an Irish Coffee image in place of the little boy.

I’m using a brand new Irish Coffee set from North Coast Creations. It hasn’t been officially released, but Kelley said if you want it, she’ll go ahead and sell it now. After coloring and fussy cutting the Irish coffee, I added some tiny gems & green stickles to the mug. I added some sparkling snow writer to whipped cream on top and that’s the reason this wasn’t finished yesterday. That stuff takes fa-eh-vah to dry! I attached it to a card board version of the mug for more stability then added it to my die cut layers. I used the largest of the ODBD Flourished Star pattern dies to emboss only the front of my white card. The pennant was added and a few little punched four leaf clovers at the bottom. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used.
