This is for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast (IC336) and features a sneak peek at a new Engagement sentiment from DRS Designs. I really liked this pretty Pendant and used the colors and tree shape for my inspiration. The card itself is pretty clean and simple because I really wanted the sentiment to take the center stage. I had die cut this leafy flourish for another card and the reverse (piece left over ) cut was just sitting there and I thought it would make a lovely backdrop with some light gray card stock behind it. I used an edge die to cut the right side before attaching to my 4.25 x 5.50 white card. I think the peach bow adds just the right touch of color.

    Thanks so much for looking

  • Who’s Tha Man??

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/
Karen Haman’s tha man! Better known as kthaman and she’s the Featured Stamper on Splitcoast (FS272)!

She has such a fabulous, extensive gallery and I couldn’t pick just one. So this first card is based on her Rain or Shine. I kept the layout but used a die cut, different sentiment and different colors. The sentiment is from Darcie’s Sparkle set. The chandelier is a Quickutz die. The sentiment panel and lampshades are made of white vellum and I added some score lines down the sides of the sentiment  and some embossed dots on the lampshades. The little candle flames were die cut in white and color added w/ markers. The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

    Supplies:

    Stamps: Darcie’sSparkle set
Paper: Neenah white, sand, dp (Recollections), white vellum, black textured
    Ink: Ancient Page coal
Accessories: Tombow markers, Cuttlebug Swiss dot embossing folder, Quickutz chandelier die, pink crystals, sheer black ribbon, Mini Bowdabra, Scorbuddy

My second card is based on Karen’s Rainbow Branches. I used a similar layout and kept the fabulous rainbow of colors, but used different images and added an embossing folder.

The images are all from DRS Designs.   I loved her rainbow colors so I colored all the candles differently then die cut the label (this image is also wonderful on the front of an envelope) using a resized Spellbinders rectangle die. I did the same for the orchid layer behind it as well as the sentiment tags inside the frame. The background was embossed with a big dot folder and I added three cut out candles at the bottom.

  • Hope

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

Believe it or not, but this IS the sketch from today’s challenge on Splitcoast (SC375)! It just got a little covered up. My circle had to be bigger and then I added the fussy cut dogwoods and poof! The horizontal and vertical bands mostly disappeared.

The images are all from DRS Designs and the Hope quote and dogwoods are a sneak peek of new images to be released on Sat. 3/10/12. I’m really loving these dogwoods! Here I stamped them in lightning black and very quickly added just a hint of shading w/ two markers then cut them out. I know, I know…most people don’t care for the fussy cutting, but I like it, lol. And I’ve gotten really quick with it. It took me about 7 or 8 min. to cut out the 3 bunches of dogwoods.

For the quote circle, I stamped the stained glass image w/ the lightning black then stamped the quote over it w/ black before die cutting it. The little left over crescent moon shape is what was left and I kinda liked it so I added some sponged on gold leafing and put it back.

The strips were stamped w/ the stained glass image and the gold ink and a solid strip added on top. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
