Weekly-FavoriteToday’s Color Challenge on Splitcoast (CC453), artichoke, cherry & baked brown sugar, are such great colors for Christmas that I made another card. Mary (owner of Serendipity Stamps), asked if anyone could think of a way to make this super owl die look Christmasy. This is what I came up with using the hat and scarf from the Snowman w/ Birds image.  Julie Warner - https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com

After die cutting the owl, I attached him to a piece of dk red. Originally I had die cut a smaller labels 4, but I changed my mind and put the die cut label back into the piece and used it as one. I had a scrap of an artichoke piece so I used it on the right side. The snowy scene was stamped onto the kraft (as close as I have to the baked brown sugar) and I added snow on the trees w/ a white gel pen. The snow on the ground was done w/ a white prismacolor pencil. The falling snow was done by seriously thinning white acrylic paint (approx. 6 to 1 water/paint) in a fine mister and spritzing. I wanted something else red, so I drew a tiny cardinal in the tree. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25. These are the Copics I used to color the hat & scarf.

Weekly-FavoriteA big CONGRATS to Susan (One4Joy), the newest Featured Stamper (FS354) on Splitcoast! I’ve been a fan of Susan’s for a long time and I love her wonderful thoughtfulness and quirky style. While I love her projects, it was hard for me to case her. I chose THIS beautiful card to case. So my attempt is close..I kept the same layout and big circle element, but I used different images, different embossing folder and added a bow instead of the felt snowflake border.

I embossed the lovely ornament w/ a sparkly black/green powder onto a shimmery mint green card stock and die cut it w/ the coordinating die. The shimmery dark green card stock was embossed w/ a multi image folder, but I only used one section and moved it around to selectively emboss the same snowflake line three times. I added two die cut mint green borders on top and bottom w/ the greeting stamped on the lower one. The ribbon for the bow was colored w/ Copics to match and the finished card is 4.25 x 5.50.

Congrats again, Susan, enjoy your week! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Cardinal Noel

    Weekly-Favorite
For today’s Inspiration Challenge (IC415) on Splitcoast, I chose THIS as the inspiration for my card. And I incorporated a miniature as this little cardinal image is actually a miniature of a much larger image.  I’m using the new little cardinal mage (coming soon!)  and pairing it with the Nativity Noel (minus the nativity scene inside the O). I masked out the nativity when I stamped the Noel and also stamped an extra O. I used a reverse mask and stamped the pine bough inside it. The little cardinal was stamped, colored w/ Copics and fussy cut. After they were attached to the Noel, I added a scallop edge pine green panel behind it, some punched greenery and a few red sequins. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25 and these are the Copics I used.
