Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Fall Inspiration Blog Hop!

If you hopped here by way of Judy Rozema’s blog, then you’re on the right track. If you’ve arrived from somewhere else, you might want to start from
the beginning, at the SNS blog, so as not to miss anyone’s remarkable cards! This is a 2 day hop,  10/18/10 thru 10/19/10.

Of course a prize is involved. Just:

    1. Leave a comment at each person’s blog (if experiencing technical problems, e-mail SNS_Artist@tampabay.rr.com with your name in the subject field, and include a message about the artist’s card and which blog it was at).
    2. Follow the directions at the last blog to become eligible for a stamp set of your choice!

(You may have seen these cards on the Splitcoast Faux Brad Tutorial which debuted 10/13/10.)  For both of my cards, I used the Autumn Swirl set 410. Isn’t it lovely? For the first card, I used a rainbow ink pad for the tree, greeting and 1/2″ faux brads. I used a Spellbinders rectangle to cut it out and a petite oval for the greeting. On the horizontal mustard layer, I stamped another of the swirl images using part of the Autumn Leaves Kpad. The sentiment was die cut using a petite oval nestie. The faux brads were made using a scrap of the vanilla which I first stamped w/ the swirl images using the Kpads. These faux brads are 1/2 inch. Finished card measures 5.5 x 4.25 (A2).

    Supplies:
stamps: Sparkle N Sprinkle – Autumn Swril set 410
    paper: vanilla, mustard, grape
ink: Kaleidacolor Creole Spice & Autumn Leaves
accessories: Spellbinders petite ovals & rectangles, 1/2 inch hole punch (faux brads)

For this second card, I used the same images and layout, but “painted” my tree with 3 different embossing powders. The swirly tree image was stamped w/ VM and I used the 3 embossing powders and a technique I call “painting w/ ep”. I used a rectangle nestie to cut it out. Two very narrow mats, 1 mustard, 1 rust (spritzed w/ bleach), back it.

On the horizontal mustard layer, I stamped another of the swirl images using part of the Autumn Leaves Kpad. The sentiment was die cut using a petite oval nestie. The Faux Brads were made using a scrap of the vanilla which I first stamped w/ the swirl images using VM and sprinkled w/ the embossing powders. These faux brads are 1/2 inch. Finished card measures 5.5 x 4.25 (A2).

    Supplies:
stamps: Sparkle N Sprinkle – Autumn Swril set 410
paper: vanilla, mustard, rust (spritzed w/ bleach)
    ink: VersaMark, Kaleidacolor Autumn Leaves
accessories: embossing powders (Indian Corn, Fall Fiesta & Golden Follies- all SNS), Spellbinders petite ovals & rectangles, 1/2 inch hole punch (faux brads), bleach

Thanks so much for stopping by! To continue the hop, please visit Sandy Meier who will be sharing her lovely Autumn inspired design.

    Supplies Needed:

    Step One:

Brayer the entire piece of paper using the rainbow ink pad.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

    Step Two:

Crumple the piece of brayered paper into a ball.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

    Step Three:

Flatten out the paper and ink the creases using the direct to paper (DTP) technique. I’m using Tea Dye Distress ink.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

    Step Four:

Crumple the paper once again, flatten out and ink the creases with a darker ink. I’m using Ancient Page Sienna ink. Repeat steps 3 & 4 with a different ink color. I’m using the Distress Fired Brick ink.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

    Step Five: (Optional)

I wanted to tone the color down a little, so I used the Soft Wheat ink all over the paper.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

    Step Six:

Crumple the paper a final time, smooth out and ink the creases with the metallic gold pigment ink. I‘m using the Encore Ultimate Metallic Gold ink.

    Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

    Step Seven:

Sprinkle on the embossing powder. Do not cover the entire paper. I used a little measuring spoon to drop the powder here and there. Tap off the excess and return to the jar. Heat the powder until melted and until any non coated areas are dry.

    Step Eight:

Enjoy your finished background! Here’s a card example using a piece of this finished background. I used it for a backing layer for some color behind the leaves on the marigold panel.

    Background Series: Ledger/Nature Silhouette III

Lately, have you noticed all the lovely Ledger design paper at your local stamp store? Well, now you can create a ton of lovely backgrounds on your cards and even in a mini book with this lovely Ledger image!

The Creative Architects were challenged to incorporate some of the images from both of these lines on our card. Moreover, Nature Silhouette III bodes well with Nature Silhouette I/II.

A little tip from Betsy: Use caution, but you can cut apart each of the images on the Hollyhock Shadow stamp and place them on your acrylic mount and arrange to your liking, then stamp away!

For my card, I white embossed the Hollyhock Shadow onto a large shipping tag then sponged on three colors of distress inks.  I tore the side and bottom of the tag and used scissors and ink to further distress them. A portion of a punched fence was also sponged and added to the bottom. The white layer was embossed with a grid pattern embossing folder (Tim Holtz/Sizzix line). I distressed the edges all around.  I used a ticket corner punch and some sheer tissue ticket tape to create the small ticket in the upper right and tucked it into a tiny white envelope. You can see more of this tape across the center of the card.

For the background, I white embossed the ledger then sponged on the distress inks as before. The little sentiment was also white embossed onto inked c/s and cut out.  The little butterfly was cut out and popped up with a little foam tape. Finished card measures 4.25 x 5.50 (A2).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please be sure to visit the entire Architect team. I know they’ll have wonders to behold!
