Cute little gnome girl on a background of dry embossed hearts. Perfect for a Valentine, Anniversary, Birthday or Mother’s Day. Extra pictures to show how the hearts were pushed out and the double heart border was used to create a lacy strip.

For the Inspiration Challenge (IC950) we are visiting All Paint by Numbers and their Pinterest Board. THIS was my inspiration picture.

My card started with the cute little gnome girl. After coloring & die cutting her w/ the coordinating die, I hunted around in my stash of backgrounds & found this baby wipe technique background (tutorial HERE) w/ similar colors. This is what the bg looked like, along w/ a die cut heart bg & inside scallop frame (from the OPC Combo #4). The pocket flap looking piece was die cut using part of the Twist & Pop die.

Instead of using the heart background die to cut the baby wipe bg, I placed it on the rubber embossing mat & embossed the hearts instead. I wanted them to look puffed up so I put the die back onto the embossed bg, lightly rubbed a piece of wax paper over it, then used an embossing stylus to push the hearts out. Here’s what it looks like from the back side.

This is what the front of the background looked like after embossing.

I attached the white die cut hearts bg & the inside scallop frame over it, leaving the sides mostly unattached, where I planned to put the greeting strip. To make the lacy heart strip, I die cut the heart border on one side of a strip of lavender. Then turned the die upside down, matching the points to the indentations on the cut row & cut it again.

The lacy heart stip was added above the greeting, on the pocket flap piece. The gnome was popped up just a bit to even her out, since half of her hat was on the layer below.

A fun, easy Valentine, Wedding, Anniversary or Birthday card with minimal coloring and a stencil background using translucent grit paste. Easy to customize using the colors of your choice. The hardest part is waiting for it to dry.

A big congrats to Deb, the newest Featured Stamper (FS888) on Splitcoast! She has a wonderful gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the layout (mostly) & the hearts, but I used different images, dies & colors. I also changed the background to a stenciled one.

For my card, I started by placing the stencil on scratch paper & rubbing 2 colors of pinkish/red ink over the top. I didn’t try to blend it, just dabbed it in areas first the lighter color then used the darker color on the rest. I placed the stencil on top of white card stock, ink side UP, then used a palette knife &  spread the grit paste in a thin layer. The paste picked up the ink from the top of the stencil as I spread the paste & it gave me a lovely varied color. There is a subtle glitter in this paste that’s more apparent in person. I carefully lifted the stencil & washed it right away so it wouldn’t adhere to the stencil. Then I let the background piece dry (about 20 minutes or so).

While it was drying, I stamped the greeting & die cut w/ the longest tag. The heart balloons were also stamped, colored & die cut. When dry, I attached a pink inside scallop frame around the heart bg, tucking the greeting tag under the edges, & layered a red outside scallop frame underneath it. The balloons were popped up just a bit.
Here are the Copics I used for the balloons:

A very quick & easy card w/ lots of possibilities. Change the small words of the greeting or the flower colors & you have a different card. Lots of different small greetings in this set as well as a coordinating stencil to color the flower.

A big congrats to Girlia, the newest Featured Stamper (FS859)! She has a lovely gallery & I cased THIS pair of cards. I kept the layout w/ the quilted look bg & big flower, but I used stamps & a stencil instead of die cut flower & a divided greeting instead of a monogram.

My card is very easy & quick. I used a quilted look piercing die on the white background. The big flower was stamped & I used a 3 part stencil to sponge the ink colors onto the flower before die cutting it. The YOU part is a stamp/die combo that comes w/ the flower set & I added the rest of the greeting on a small tag.

I used a shimmer spray on the flower, but it’s very hard to tell in the pictures. The center part of the flower was stamped again, stenciled & fussy cut to pop up on top of the original flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
