A big Congrats to our newest Featured Stamper (FS438), Melissa! She has such a lovely gallery and I couldn’t decide between THIS & THIS so I combined them. I used the same layout, but different images, different colors and added a layer & an umbrella.

I started by making two water color backgrounds with Brushos crystals. I wet the corners pretty heavily, sprinkled on lemon, yellow, orange & vermillion Brushos then spread it a little w/ a water brush. I stamped the sun in the corner & used a white gel pen to add a little brightness to the rays. A die cut Hello & a stamped Sunshine along w/ a die cut umbrella and some clouds. The larger w/c bg was die cut w/ the Sunburst pattern die & I added a black & white gemstone to the upper right corner. Here’s a look at the inside.

    Daisy on the Side cu06633
A big congrats to Lisa, the newest Featured Stamper (FS437) on Splitcoast! She has a lovely gallery and after much browsing, I kept coming back to THIS card. I didn’t realize it was her case of another card until I’d already finished…oh well! I really loved the big flower on the side so I kept that & the layout, but I didn’t have a die like she had so I used a stamp for my flower, different embossing & die cut shape for the white panel.

Since I didn’t have the wonderful daisy die Lisa used, I pulled out a really old stamp set w/ these big half flowers on them & stamped them on top of a background I made by smooshing the Distress inks onto an acrylic block, spritzing w/ water & pressing onto water color paper. I cut out 3 of the flowers & 3 leaves plus 1 little half flower. The white bg was die cut & embossed before attaching to a black square. I stamped the greeting around the corner & added some of the little dots image around the corner and also inside the background.

Congrats again, Lisa! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Welcome to the June Challenge for Serendipity StampsThis month the challenge is My Guy (masculine card)! The Design Team has the added challenge of using texture (embossing, fabric, etc.). You can get all the details over on the Serendipity Challenge Blog.  We have something new…a “Stamp of the Month”. Each month a different image will be 50% off. This month- it’s the Grill. Be sure to check out the great deals on the Clearance Stamps, too. And as always, we have a  have a gift certificate up for grabs to a random player.

My first thought at this time of year for a guy card, was of course, Father’s Day. I had the idea to use the train image, but then I realized I had forgotten to get a Father’s Day greeting. So I guess necessity IS the mother of invention, lol. I searched the word dies & made the DAD out of the Day die.

For the background frame & mountain part of the scene, I used Brusho water color crystals by sprinkling them onto damp water color paper, then blending them out with a wet paintbrush. I added a bit of shimmer by washing over it with some pearlescent water colors.

Here’s the picture of the background, showing how I die cut the large piece & made a frame out of it. From the center, I found the area I wanted for the mountains and die cut a circle around it. By masking, I stamped the background part of the scene & filled in with more of the trees.  I added a woodgrain embossed white front & the cut out train. The envelope ties were also fussy cut and added behind the die cut oval w/ the greeting. The upper left corner element is just a leftover piece of the water color background and a Candi dot.

The finished card is 4.25 x 5.50 and these are the Copics I used on the train image.
