Since we’re doing (mostly) blue cards today, mine showcases this wonderful Sunflower image done in blues w/ a little coral for an accent color. I think I’ve said this before but I try not to let reality get in the way of how I color things. You’ll probably never see a sunflower this color in real life, but I like it! And because I love a good contrast, I paired the shades of blue w/ a nice corally-orange dot paper. A big scallop die was used on the bottom strips and the 2 shades of blue paper are actually the flip sides of one sheet of textured c/s. I used a pennant die for the sentiment, added a little twine bow and some beautiful little Swarovski crystals. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

Here are the Tombow markers I used to color my sunflower and the ink I used to stamp the images. Julie Warner - justwritedesigns https://thewritestuff.justwritedesigns.com/

And last but not least, is my notebook page along with supplies I used. If you haven’t tried the Picksey Pick Ups, they are fabulous! Makes working w/ those little crystals an absolute breeze!

  • Heart Flowers

For my field of Heart Flowers, I stamped the grass across the front of a vanilla panel. The various hearts were stamped, cut out and popped up on top of the blades of grass. I added a little color to some areas of the hearts using a combination of Tombow markers and Prismacolor pencils. I already had this dp from Cosmo Cricket picked out and it turned out to  be a really tough color of red to match. The only way I could come close was using both the markers and pencils.  I added some little crystals on top of the hearts. The finished card is 5.50 x 4.25.

And here’s the page from my notebook. Can’t tell you how many different red inks I tried before deciding the lipstick red chalk ink came the closest.

    Best of 2012 -SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS!

For my winter card, I used this wonderful Tree Branch and stamped it with indigo ink on the slate blue c/s. I shaded it just a bit using Tombow markers and added snow with a white gel pen. The two sizes of Flurry snowflakes were stamped in indigo and also denim inks. I added a few of the smaller flakes stamped and embossed with white embossing powder. More highlights were added with the white gel pen and the centers dotted with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

The greeting was also white embossed on a gold flecked navy piece of c/s. I attached it on top of a sentiment frame and colored in the dots. The finished card is 6.50 x 5.00.

Just for fun, I thought I’d show you my color inspiration for this challenge. I had this snowflake dp and while I was hunting for c/s to go with it, I found this Martha Stewart paint chip in my stash and those are the colors I used. This is a page in my little 9.5 x 7 notebook.  I keep little leftover paper and ribbon swatches and bare bones notes on the card. It helps me remember what I did and what I used. I don’t know how many of these I’ve gone through, but they’ve really come in handy plenty of times and I don’t have to guess what I used.
